Control heat in smaller tent

Hey boys and girls! I'm a total noob FYI.

I have a smaller tent 2x2x4,5 setup with a 250w HPS and a cooltube.
I'm running a TT100 (4") fan with 110cfm and a passive intake. But I can't seem to get the temps down below 30c (86F) at canopy level.
The setup is set up like this Filter---Fan--duct--cooltube--duct--out.
I have a steady temperature of 23C(73F) up on my loft where I have tried it out.
My intention was to put up on my loft (Studio living) because I need to be stealthy.
I've tried do hook up the passive intake with ducting and drawing air from downstairs but that doesn't seem to help at all.

Do you have any tips and tricks?

If the room the tent is in is a lot cooler then the tent then you need to exhaust the air from the tent at a higher rate of speed. If the room is close to the same temperature as the tent then you need to exhaust the air outside.

I was thinking about hooking up an extra fan outside the tent, since the temperatures are 25C at the highest pint of the tent and 30C 8 inches under the light. If a hook up one fan inside the tent to move the air up towards my exhaust fan, would that work or would it be useless?

The air isn’t warmer 8” under the light, your thermometer/sensor is reading high because it is absorbing the radiation from the light when it is that close to it. Even if the air is warmer down there it will rise naturally and doesn’t need a fan to blow it toward the exhaust.

Do you have the heat dumping just outside the tent or duct somewhere past that? outside or at least another room?

Allrighty!
To get a good idea of how hot it is inside the tent, where do you suggest i'd place the thermometer? I've also found a fresh air intake just underneath my loft, so I've connected the duct from may passive intake to that intake. Funny that I've never seen that one before.

Unfortunately I have it pumping just out in my apartment, since I no windows close to my bedroom/loft.
So I'm dumping it towards the window downstiars. I have an "open loft" so to speak so it's like a small balcony on top of my livingroom where I have my bed and the tent.
Downstairs I have one balcony door and one window on top of the door, I have them both open all the time.

The thermometer should be right around the same level at the top of your plants.

I don'y have any plants in there now because I wanted to test everything before I started. So I just hooked the thermostat on the side of my airpot and lowered the light to about 8" from the pot just to check how hot it'd be.

Why are you going with 8”? Isn’t 8” on the close side for HPS bulbs?

Your gonna need a booster fan at the end of that pulling

1 shade your thermometer from direct light.
2 make sure your air is well mixed with a circulation fan.

That's should give you a more accurate air temp reading.

If you are using a fan as an intake, and it causes your tent to balloon out, then your exhaust fan isn’t pulling enough air. Most growers don’t bother with intake fans, we just use a suitably sized exhaust fan and open up ports at the bottom of the tent to use as passive intakes.
