Controlled seed production?

It looks like most people buy their seed, but I am reluctant to do so for the time being. (first grow, the law, cheap, etc). I have just a bit of bag seed.

What is the best way to pollinate just a few buds to produce a "next year" crop?

My plan was just to keep a male , shake out the pollen into a bag, "paint" it on just a few buds. Am I going to be able to do that without pollinating the whole crop? Will it have an adverse affect on the other buds on the same plant?

i do this pretty much as you describe
you don't need much pollen, just a little
trick is to freeze dry pollen(you can search how to do this), freeze dried pollen keeps a long time
then use a small paint brush, to dip a tiny bit of pollen, than paint a bud
if done well, no more than 10 seeds(for a small bud)

I'd say grow your plants, if you get a male, keep your pollen (you may have to keep the plant alive as I'm not sure how long pollen with keep without going sterile, if it even does, just make sure it is not around your ladies). Clone a single branch from a female, and pollinate that in a room that has no airflow to your grow area. Always remember to wash yourself thoroughly after hanging around in there. That way you get the most out of your females for this year and you have your seeds for next year.

Okay... you guys have given me some pointers (like don't do it in the same airspace as other females, and shower off/change clothes before reentering grow space.

I have a Freind of a Freind who had a Blue Mystic male and a AK47 female.

He Just took the male and shook it over the female for 3 days and got a whole bunch of BM/AK47 Hybrid seeds that ended up being monsters when grown out
