Conversation Between rollitup and An Oranje Canadian

Even the Army, (My alma mater) has one listed as primary, infantry rifleman. We, even in the ordnance corp, had our weapon at the ready at all times in the combat zone. You could be called at any time to go to an infantry platoon and do grunt duty, fortunately I escaped that dillema, but it was a threat the non-coms and officers always held over your head. Whenever going on a field excursion, you always had your weapon in hand, and yeah, I did experience incoming more than once. The sound of an AK being fired at you is rather terrifying, the noise a round makes going by you is something one never forgets, generally, you hear the round before you hear the gunfire, like zing-pow, sounds like chinese food, eh? Incoming mortar rounds are even more terrifying. I would have made a terrible grunt.
So your basically saying that the Army does NOT send every person into combat operations like the Marines do. Im saying that there is no maybe, you WILL be part of a Platoon and go on long 50 mile hikes up mountains at 10 MPH with a 100 lb pack on, you will spend weeks shooting various weapons and riding in all sorts of vehicles and spending weeks on end sleeping outside in the dirt. You will endure all the combat training/jujitsu/self offense classes and the endless miles of running and hours of PT ( Physical Training). Then after its all over you can go back to your cook position/ Office position/ tech job. No one holds this over your head as some kind of punishment. Most Marines look forward to the brutality of it all.

The armed services provide many different services in times of need, except for the Marines. The Marine Corps only does 2 things, both of which it is very efficient and proficient at. the two things? Kill people and destroy things. Except for the once every 50 year humanitarian aid, that pretty much sums up every Marines mission. Even the Marines who are in offices have to spend a few months out of each year training to kill people, for every Marine is a basic rifleman above and beyond his Military Occupation. The USMC is the only group that does this. Most of the younger Marines are 100% brainwashed and are like robots with instant and willing obedience to orders,
Sounds good to me. Thats how I want my Military to be. Its the Politicians and ultimately the Peoples responsibility when they unleash Dogs of War are.

even if the orders are to kill innocents. Be careful if they are ever mobilized for "Domestic Peacekeeping" duties, thats just a way of saying they are going around killing people.
What a load of bullshit lol

every marine i have ever met has been kind of thick if you know what i mean..most of them are good guys ..just about like everyone else for the most..plus a little brain washing thrown in ..i dont think the marines would kill their own people..maybe so..but they will pay a heavy price if they try.
i remember running 25 miles full pack in four and a half hours up and down hill..the long days running in the heat with out much water the brain washing to kill communists.
they do that so it makes it easier for you to not look at who you kill as human that way you can kill with a good clean mind.
brainwashing to be extremely patriotic is the norm. at least in a recon unit or a combat arms unit'
the ranger motto is to accomplish the mission although you be the only man alive.
the marines is; ours is not to question why ours is to do or die.
seriously that is what they mean in order to stop them you are going to have to kill them because they are coming to kill you. you will have no choice.
i cant think of a military who could stand up to ours? i know there are military's such as chinas who are very large with decent equipment russia comes to mind also. but we do have a squadron of f 22 raptors and no other aircraft in the world can compete . so long as our guys have air cover we dont need alot of ground forces for large battles so long as we do not intend to occupy any large land mass.
our combat troops are the best in the world. i said our combat troops . not the REMFS .
we only need a small military really..we do need however another at least 200 hundred naval ships back and at least another 2 army divisions and one more marine division.
still a very small force considering any other country of comparable size.
we should have madatory service just like israel or switzerland .both countrys because every single person serves in the military are considered even though small countrys a couple of the worlds most powerfull militarys . israels military is considered the third most powerfull in the world and is nuke capable .
israel is like a fly speck on the world map..it is like a fly landed and shit on the world map and someone named it israel.
no one in the world would want to fight them. not even russia.

you did not run uphill for fifty miles with a hundred pound pack at an average speed of 10mph that never happened you may have run uphill for fifty miles with a hundred pounds of gear but not at 10 mph average speed i assume thats a bit of an overstatement to get the point across.

Well yeah your right, I did not actually get a radar confirmation of that speed, but we did pass Joggers like they were just strolling down the lane. My pack wasn't 100 pounds, I had to carry a M224 60MM mortar too, so I had to carry 140 pounds of gear. It wasn't uphill ALL the time, there was downhill portions too, also portions on the beach, BTW the sand really sucks to do forced marches in.

yeah i was gonna say the whole platoon with those weights while running would be world class athletes on those times. right on man. there is nothing better than brutalizing the body all day it makes for a clear head. i feel ill if i dont push myself physically more or less daily im selling my self short. and yes sand sucks but if its not hard then its hardly worth doing imo. that applys to all things in life i suppose.
