Here's is a scenario in which I would only use the female on the outside.. Or should I say.. underneath a drain pan or flood tray. You can cut away most of the male fitting with a hacksaw, and leave just a small flange, so you can get more of a flush mounted drain. They don't really make big ebb & flow drains that are upwards of 2". So, I would just make my ownGot it. So we want the female fitting on the inside. Makes sense. Thank you!
It doesn't matter really which way you go when using as a bulkhead, only that you put the seal on the outside. No water can leak through the threads either way.
