Cool tube help

I am going to be running two 400 watt lights in my DIY cool tube design. The biggest glass tubes i could find were 5 inches in diameter.

My MH bulb when properly fitted has only about half and inch of clearing all around the bulb. Is that enough?

And when connecting the 6 inch ducting to a 6 ich inline fan do i need something to connect each other to or can it just be strapped on.

Thanks + rep for answers.:weed:

That won't allow for much aorflow but it should help none the less that tube is gonna get hot tho. As for the fan a 6" hose clamp would be best followed by duct tape. Look around ebay for a pyrex bake-a-round u should find one big enough should u decide the previous tube gets too hot. As long as ur moving a high volume of air and the air being brought in is cool fresh air it should maintain decently I do think its gonna be a little hotter than ud hopes though. I like a /++5 inch of space around my bulb before the glass but I cool my lights with a 1cfm per 1watt rule (overkill) but I use 650 96. To 650 watts. Feels like a floro lol

Yea thats good i was just making sure the fan wont blow or something crazy haha.

I dont really care for it to be cold to the touch its just needed to bring the temps down to something more comfortable.

My MH bulb is one of those weird oversized footballs lol. Thanks you from me and my plants.

I had the same problem with those large diameter bulbs.

I finally just bought a cooltube large enough to accomodate the bulb.

But check this out it should do the trick for you
