Alright so im planning on getting a 4x8 tent and running two 600s in adjust a wing reflectors.my origional thought was a/c hoods but changed my mind and am thinking a passive intake, mounting a fan up top and exausted out a vent in the garage were the tent is. About how mant cfm would I need to cool them? Durring winter it gets pretty cold in the garage and hot in the summer.i was thinking a canfan 6 in dual flow ??? Possibly 8 in.also there will be 2 tower fans running for circulation. Any ideas are more than welcome.

i have 2 600s in a 4x4x6

running a 400 cfm the hoods are cool tube connected with flexie ducting

i have them in a finished basement..........running it with a power intake of 240 cfm passive to make up the rest the tent runs 10 degrees hotter then the intake air .....this is at fullpower 4 90 degree bends no carbon filter ........when i lower the power to the fan using a speed controller the temp in the tent raises fairly fast

mh and hps at same time due to autoplant grower

so far the temps have dipped in my area to 40 i had to turn the heat on in the room to reduce the massive flux from 78 to 58 (according to senor)

The garage is about 5-10 deg f warmer than outside temps. I have a 400 cfm fan now. The fan will run directly out side from the tent or into the garage to warm it if needed.i like the wing reflectors by adjustawing so if I can get away with using them through summer itd be cool. But I wana get it setup asap I plan to harvest monthly one light at a time if that makes sensi.

do you live in florida or alaska? what kinda temps will the garage be? I have a feeling if you use adjusta wing that the tent will be smoking hot. I would get some type of air cooled hood, If it gets to cold just turn the fan down.

I live in cali man. The temps are getting down around 40s and about 70 is the high. my thought was the tent is 104 cf. The fan maxing out at 400cfm would clear it 3.84 times a min right? So say its running at 300cfm its still clearing 2.8 times a min. Should I add an intake? I can run one from a vent in the garage wall directly at the lower intake on the tent, that with a tower fan in each rear corner would cool it? I may

I would use a 6 inch duxt booster
=|=H=H=|=
So duct sucking through too cool tubes or hoods so its constantly passing cold air over the bulbs at 254cfm and then have a 6 inch inline with a cf cleaning the tent

I have a 4x8 with 2 600s in a/c reflectors that are NOT ducted and glass removed. over sized exhaust, like a 700 cfm 8" fan and a filter to fit. If you can keep the ambient temp at about 65-69 deg. it runs great, right about 75 most of the time, 78 is highs. Take into consideration you need to remove the hot air from top of tent and OUT of room, constantly bringing new air in passively. Im pretty sure you have the right idea man, it works. When the lights turn off is a bitch if you are in a cold room or garage, space heater or something would work though.

i personally wouldn't run 2x 600 watters in a 4x8 without a/c hoods or an a/c unit. honestly that's just asking for trouble man. think about how hot your tent will get during the summer time. don't plan your grow to only be ran during the winter just because that's the season we are currently in. just my 2 cents.

Cool tubes, passive intake, cooling the 4x8 with a/c unit will be needed if you can't exhaust the room the tent is in. If the room is small enough the ac could stay outside the tent but it would be harder to control conditions inside without the added coat of more equipment.

ya air cooled hoods and a good exhaust fan minimum of 400cfm is needed. im running this setup now.

Thanks for the replies. Im going cooltube for sure after my next grow. 16 grape apes! Under wings for now with the cool temps no need for the extra equipment.

cooltubes? yuck! spend the extra 20 bucks or what ever it is to get the air cooled hood.
