Cooling a 4,000 Watt Room

Whatsup guys,

I am wondering if I get some opinions on cooling a 4,000 watt room. The room my buddies and I are working on has 4 1,000 watt bulbs with digital ballasts. These bulbs are going to be air cooled by a charcoal filter with 6" CFM fan. We haven't fired it up so we don't know what the temps are yet but I know we will need some sort of AC, especially when summer comes. The window to the room is covered so a window AC is not an option. Would a 10,000 - 15,000 BTU portable AC do it? What about a swamp cooler? I was looking at some split system ACs but they're costly. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Hi, the portable AC will definitely not work at all. You should install an AC in that window, I think that is your only choice. Or, you could install an mini split AC like this if you want, you could install it on side exterior wall or something so it is inconspicuous. Does that help?

does it get real hot by you?. im guessing you live in the desert since you mentioned a swamp cooler. if you do live in the desert your def gonna need a.c. or yes a swamp cooler would work but prolly not ideal in flower cuzz humidity spike. if you live at higher altotude and it drops 20 degrees or more at night you might not need ac and just run your grow at night. your best bet is a mini split though

Fire up the room for 2 days and monitor temps....always do a couple day dry run...and why would you filter your bulb air????? filter exhaust...you need a seperate intake and exhaust for the room.

Thanks for the replies. I don't live in the desert I live in the Bay Area haha. My dad just has a swamp cooler so I was wondering. I'll do a couple dry runs and see how it goes. The bulb air is going out through a vent. I have a charcoal filter hanging with a CFM fan sucking in air, the air is going through the filter through the 1st light then the second then around a good bend through the 3rd and 4th light and then out a vent to the attic. I'll see if I can find a cheap split system. Thanks again.
