Cooling for 8 lights (2 mini splits?)

I need to cool/heat 3 different 8 gavita light 10x16 rooms. I'm thinking of going down 2 paths.

I see some really good prices, $850 for an 18seer 24,000btu Quiteside Mini Splits systems w/ heat pump here in SoCal. At that price I thought it might make sense to purchase 2 per room. Is 2 per room an issue?

Or do I purchase one 4 ton 16seer Goodman home unit w/ heat pump for $2500? Plus I'll still need line sets, ducting and 410a.

I'll also need to cool a 8x18 veg w/ 11 315w LEC and a few T5s. I was thinking just one of the 24,000 mini splits would do the trick?

Air intake, exhaust, and air circulation are very important - Then you have noise...
At this point your mind is trying to make the right decisions because mistakes ALWAYS cost money...

My rule of thumb is to always go as big as possible, especialy when dealing with space, light, temp. control.

I appreciate your response, but I'm not sure I understand your suggestion.

Are you saying 48,000 may not be enough cooling?

Both units in theory will be 48,000btu, but in one scenario will take 2 mini splits, maybe more energy efficient(18seer), cost about 1/2 the price, and I'm thinking will be quieter. I understand if i do a ducted unit I could more efficiently move air, but I was thinking of putting one mini split head on each end of the room.

I'm totally down for doing it once and doing it right, that's why I'm asking for input.

I have 9x600 hps in my room now but on the weekend I will be replacing them with 6 gavita. And will be cooling them just with large fans these 3x 10 inch and 1x 12 inch fans

Yup, those are some nice lights 8). That's what I'm leaning towards getting. I was also looking at Dimlux, but I couldn't get a response from their tech support prior to purchase.

Really you're not going to cool those lights off? Out here I was told about 4000btus of cooling per light. Might not need as much during the winter, but I would think I would during the summer?!

I would get DIY LED COBs to lower the heat but if you want Gavitas then I would go with the Goodman 4 ton or even a 5 ton. If you have money to spend - get a Trane.

Over here and it can get hot no one uses ac to cool there rooms all fans. My room would be about the same as yours 12x9

Ya your gonna need to cool em my partner uses 8 tons(5 ton central air and 3 ton mini split) to cool them. No way you can go with out ac too hot for one without ac. He has 14

I will tell you after the weekend I am sure I can. My mate where I got them from contacted gavita to find what would be needed to keep the room cool. And he said what I have would be more then enough so I hope he is right. It is only for a flower room and I do like to run my room a lot warmer then most. Plus I will be running the gavita master controller EL2 as a back up

I mean if your cool with it being in the 90's then ya but these things get hot like shit on a 1000w hps by a mile especially the non ducted like u have. Dealt with a lot of then gavita lying if they say you don't need ac lol shits are hot as fuckkkkkk pull mad weight and are badass but need mad ac personally with 6 I'd be surprised if you got away with a 3 ton mini split cuz my buddies 5 ton and 3 ton run full time while lights on at 1100w. what's your ceilings like please say atleast 9ft

10 is definitely better those things are strong as shit 10ft ceilings mean lights hung at 9'-9'6" or so and your gonna want about 3 ft between canopy and bulbs plus maximize your spread. They are sick tho

Ive been running 4 gavitas on light rails, was being cooled with a single 24000 btu split. Im starting up a room with 8 gavitas on lightrails, and im putting in a 3 ton 36000 btu dual zone. Should be enough since the lights arent stationary, and its in a cool basement. You would be more than okay with 48000 btu.

Ive found that 6000 BTUs per non air cooled 1000w is a good rule of thumb.

So if gavitas are running hotter and the ballasts are in the room then you might go bigger on the BTUs.

Ya like I said 8 tons for 14 lights and it runs almost constantly while.lights on

Make sure you calculate all the heat from the dehumidifier/c02 burner/pumps also it can add up very quick. Do two 36000btu acs in your rooms then you wont have to sweat it when the heat waves come.

Just got them all hook up running at 84 with it running at 1150 watt that is at daytime 3 pm. So you can run them with fans
