cops calling you??

so me and my friend were chillin in my shady ass van today and the cops come knocking at the window. we smoked a j, but we ditched the roach and aired out the van, so we had nothing to hide and the cops had no suspicion. after they took our IDs and looked in our windows for anything suspicious they asked for our phone numbers. i asked "do i legally have to tell you my number?" and the cop just kept telling me to tell him, and i just kept asking the same question. then threatened to come to my house. but i still didint tell him. then he asked my friend and he told them right away! after that the cops just left.

anyways are the cops really gonna come to my house or call my friends parents? i dont think so, but just wondering if its even legal for them to do that.

The cops were doing an incident report and getting your info in case anything illegal was reported, like a burglary. You are under no obligation to provide the officers with any information. When they ask for your ID, ask if you are under arrest. If he tells you no, politely decline to answer any questions or ID yourself. Check your local laws. More than likely, you are only required to ID yourself if pulled over for a violation. NEVER, EVER talk to cops. Just advise them that you know they have a job to do, however you are exercising your right to the 5th amendment and have nothing to say to the officer.

They might get pissed, but it is your constitutional right. They cannot arrest you simply for exercising that right. If they do, you have a lawsuit and the cop has bought trouble for violating your rights. They know this fully well, regardless of any useless threats they toss your way.

They have no right to ask for your number but keep in mind it's not against the law for the cops to lie, but you CANT lie to them !!! Brutal, isnt it ? You dont have to answer any questions and that is your RIGHT !!! Better off to keep your mouth shut, except for this line... "Officer, am I being detained ? Then if not, am I free to go?" THATS ALL !!! You have rights so use them !!!

You ARE required to ID yourself if a LEO asks you to, but that's about it. You don't have to respond to any questions, but cops usually get annoyed if you flex your rights and will fuck with you or make things more difficult. My trick is to respond to every question with another question - you're not telling lies and they aren't getting info.

Cops have tricks to get their way, this happen to me last year on a traffic violation last year, i got pulled over for my window tints being to dark then the cop tells me she smells marijuana. And honestly i didnt even smoke in my car, she musta smelt it on my cloths from smoking like 2 hrs earlier, but anyway she asked me to search my car and i said no you may not. I started to get pissed and said just give me my ticket and let me go, i told her i know my rights. and basically shes asking me for 10 mins then says ok, you want to play this game ? and goes back to her car and radios something and 15 mins later another cop arrives with some paper work to search my car. In the end they found nothing but my pipe in the glove compartment and some seeds on the floor and threw those away and only fined me for my Tints. But my point is, cops can hold u for 20-30 mins until they get the documents to search you.

forget to add, girl cops are always the cops that act like assholes, everytime i get pulled over by a girl cop, they make it her duty to fuck your day up.
