Cotyledons yellow at 2 wks old?

This is a 2 wk old autoflower in Kelloggs organic potting mix, the bottom half of the mix is amended with Dr Earth 4-4-4. It was over watered by someone who was watering my plants for me last week. Anyway, what would cause the yellow cotyledons? Over watering? Is this 4-4-4 amended soil gonna be ok? Would fungus gnats do this? (they're gone now) Most of all, is she going to be ok? This is the only Twisted Cookies left, the other 3 were eaten on day 3.

On my plants, the cotyledons usually end up shriveling up eventually, once the plant has a couple of nodes. The new growth on yours looks healthy. Just keep caring for it right, and if the new growth keeps looking healthy, then it's okay. I see some white spots on the blades. Check that those are not caused by pests under the leaves or mildew. Otherwise you're good.

She will be ok man my plant was almost dead because it was in a pot too small for the roots that were growing. Lost cotyledons early on and look at her now when i grounded her. I popped the seed in april 28-29 shes about 2 months and a week and she grew about 20x in a month compared to the pot

Alright thanks yall! I'm just finishing up my first solo grow of 7 autos and their cotyledons stayed for weeks if I'm remembering correctly. I know these leaves hold much of the nutrients they need for beginning their life, so I was worried. Anyway thank you again!

I was also wondering about those white spots. They showed up on my 7 autos that I'm almost ready to harvest, and on my big photoperiod plant, a couple weeks ago. And now on this seedling. I spray 1x week with neem and 1x week with spinosad, so I'm not really sure what it could be.

Sometimes they do sometimes they don't turn yellow ime. I'm actually getting to the point where I think if you give nitrate soon enough ( not to soon ) they stay green. If not plant takes what it needs from cotyledons. Not actual science like I say always, just my observations. Could be strain dependant also.

Don't spray those on flowering plants. They make the smoke taste funny, and there's some studies on adverse effects of neem smoke.

thanks, that plant looks great! I'm mostly worried about mine because it's an auto, which in my experience get stunted pretty easily as they don't have time to bounce back like a photo

right on, good advice right there! I stop using neem during flower and continue the weekly spinosad. Spinosad is ok during flower I'm pretty sure?

Yeah that does look small for 2 weeks. I wouldn't worry about those cotyledons but it looks like the other leaves are starting to yellow and getting dried up tips. It's obviously not happy.

In the future you should use a better soil. That Kelloggs is mostly wood and manure. It's not the best stuff to use growing indoors in pots.

yeah my original plan was 2 strains in 2 different soils, one of each strain in each soil. Strains were Twisted Cookies and Menagerie, soil is Kellogg's and Happy Frog, just what I had on hand. Plan failed though when something ate them, hence the mosquito netting. Also these are outdoor but I agree it's no Fox Farm. Although it does contain ph buffers and mycorhizzae too if I'm not mistaken. It seems to always have or attract fungus gnats though. It's not bad for veggies or even photoperiod cannabis, but for autos I won't use Kellogg's again.
