Could I grow a tomato plant exactly the same as I would grow a pot plant?

Since it's increasingly hard to find a good tomato in the store I thought I shoudl grow some of my own since I have spare equipement.. Do I need to do a whole seperate reasearch project for that, or can I do the same thing I did with the MJ?

Ive found tomatoes will thrive in most conditions theyre not too fussy, heavy feeders, will be quite happy on the ferts you use for ya ganja, be carefull if you got em in with ya ganja plants tho because they will soon take over the grow room.

Tomatoes are very close genetically to pot, so the answer to your question is Yes; you can grow tomatoes in the same fashion as a pot plant with all of the same equipment.

If you're ever in a hydroponics store, just say "I grow tomatoes" and they'll know exactly what you mean! haha

tomatoes and mj are very close and you shouldn't have any problems applying mj info and techniques to tomatoes. Good Luck and enjoy!

does anybody else have anymore information on this, i think it would be awesome to cook up some indoor tomatoes. would they like 18/6 lighting?

May i suggest that anyone trying this with a tomatoe in the growroom use a small "patio" variety and start from seed. Even a Roma tomatoe would probably be ok just don't get crazy and get some indeterminate heirloom giant as it will quickly take over the room if it gets a chance. And you want to start from seeds to prevent the introduction of pests and the like from a plant from the nursery being moved into the room. The garlic sounds like the way to go to me.

1. Order greenhouse tomato seeds from Johny Select Seeds or other good seed Co. Outdoor tomato varieties will not do well indoors unless they are small fruited "patio" varieties. Trust F1 is a fine robust variety. They are expensive seed but so is genetically superior cannabis.

2. The plant must be stopped (not topped) after one, two or three flower trusses have set fruit. Indeterminate tomato plants will continue to vine indefinitely as it is a perennial although grown as an annual.

3. All suckers or side shoots need to be snapped off to concentrate plant assimilates to the developing fruit. Heavily fed tomato plants indoors will attempt to veg from every place possible. Watch for new shoots growing from the middle of leaves and eliminate or clone.

4. Metal Halide is preferable to HPS with tomatoes as there are few flowers needed to mature fruit and MH will keep the plant stout and thick. HPS is effective if your plants will have access to some natural light if not stick to MH.

5. I have had huge success with GH 3 part following their Keep It Simple schedule and menu as if it were cannabis. If growing win Coco with RO water must dose the plants with Botanicare CalMag to avoid deficiency in these nutrients VITAL to tomato fruit development. If not be prepared for blossom end rot.

6. Be prepared and ready for white flies and other pesks. They will find your tomato garden and by association your ganja. Use yellow stick pads to monitor and use safer soap sprays. You will gain new appreciation for cannabis' disease and pest resistance after one crop of tomatoes. You've been warned. LOL

7. In hydro, choose a system and watering system that provides consistent moisture especially during later stages of fruit development. If not you will experience fruit cracking which occurs anytime there is a sudden influx of water after a dry period on a plant with mature fruit.

Hope this helps.

tomatos are so easy to grow, ive grown them many times & the taste of your own home grown toms is something else.i always waited untill they grew to a decent size & cut them then leave to ripen near my window.
there a fast grower too.only a 12/12 is needed.i prefer to use plain old water aswell as in the past im sure ive tasted them in the toms.
well worth growing if youve got the space & will save you £ especially when there not in season.
