I am not sure about mice, as there is always the disease carrying issue with them. The bugs and lizards, I do no why not but you need to make sure you don't end up with hot nute spiked soil.
I know chicken crap is a very hot fert. but works well when used properly.
I do know that for vegetable gardens, pet crap (dog/cat) is not recommended due to disease.

a simple guide line to follow when using animal shit. use shit from animals that eat grass, vegitables, and etc.(herbivores). dont use crap from meat eaters(carnivores), they tend to carry parisites. these parasites can be easily spread through contact. example being e-coli, etc.

to fight nute burn, let your shit fertilizer rot, or sit for a few months. i mix mine in with my used soil, some other additives, and leave it in a 50 gal trash can, in the yard for 6 months.

Hard to imagine you could get enough shit from any of those things to be substantial anyway.

Got caves around here so we go and get our own guano, I just dump it in a hole in the backyard mixed in with the soil and let it break down for a couple of months. If your anywhere near farms or even better stock yards you can get cow shit and do the same thing.

great posts, thanks, I have gone into compost teas, but am buying the guano. I would love to get into other types of composting, i.e., the free kind, but I am afraid I wouldn't know how to use the fert. How would i know the fert properties, like whether I cooked up a grow or bloom, etc? Do you guys buy those soil testers?

Yeah good question and something I need to do more research on myself.

You can get different kinds of commercial Guano, some bat which is higher in nitrogen and some bird which is higher in phosphorus. Cow manure is generally higher in nitrogen too I think like 10.7.3

Ideally you want higher nitrogen during veg and higher phosphorus during flower I believe. I am thinking the easiest way to go would be using a bat guano is the soil mix then just adding a high phosphorus (1.9.1) liquid bloom during flower; too easy :bigjoint:
