Hi I'm hoping for a bit of advice on nutes and ec here, im a bit of a noob but getting the hang of hydr.
first off i should state that my lights are average so keep that in mind.
I'm using canna aqua with ro water, I had a horrible start as before long I got calcium deficiency
but im good now I got some calcium nitrate recommended @ 2mls per L and that gives me about .4ec as a starting point.
Question is should I use this amount or even more maybe and should I also add some Epsom salts too
I just realized its kind of a difficult question to answer so I add that its top feed system with clay balls.

running older plants moving into full veg, there over a month old lol and 1 week old seedlings , all different types too.
can I get away with running a total ec of say 1.2 - 1.4 on all of them, im more concerned about catering to the seedlings.

also I am totally lost with watering
as I understand they need to root in initially, so letting them dry out but it's difficult to gauge how much moisture is in the pots because the clay balls hold so little amount.
Then once there well rooted you can water them relatively often with well oxygenated juice to keep things fresh.
I'm very confused because I read something about dry roots and wet roots a while ago and It's still doing ma head in.
my theory is that in my particular system there would be wet sucker roots at the bottom and then going up they would get drier and more hairy for feeding.
If anybody could shed some light on this for I would be greatfull.

If it was calcium def. then use the calcium nitrate. If it was magnesium def. use the Epsom salts.

hi antman, the past calcuim def is not in question, i'm talking about preventing future problems, I wonder if there will be enough sulpher in particular as well as mag, i suppose trail and error will work in the end but its a very slow process.
