Cover budding plants from rain and frost?

So I’m wondering if anyone covers there crops outside with plastic over top to stop mold and middles of plants and buds getting wet not on sides so air can still blow freely through them but over top. Last 2 years I’ve lost a lot of good bud to bud rot couple ounces each plant this year with the way out weather has been in northern Ontario. Freezing temps and frost already in sept figured maybe worth trying to cover. Any one done this what happens will they still grow with plastic Covering plastic I was gonna use was some vaper barrier I had left over shouldn’t be that much different then green house growing right?

Plastic directly in contact with any of your flowers is not a good idea but if you can suspend the plastic above the plants with PVC or metal that makes it just like a greenhouse

Oh yeah I shoulda put that obviously I don’t let anything touch my plants or buds no it would be suspended thinking just a wooden frame on a slant so water can run off. It’s the heavy rain I don’t want soaked buds that won’t dry so figured if I stop them from getting wet they should be good
