and what's with the parachute cord? Something to self girdle the tree trunks if they get too big? :smile: You have any easy, sensible way about you L{t}G; it's been an enjoyable walk in the woods with you. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season.
On some of the ones I didn't picture, the loop of paracord was much smaller. But I figured I should seem optimistic to you guys:bigjoint:

Thanks for the kind words. I don't stress over stuff. I guess I inherited that from my Daddy. He would do what he could, and not worry about the rest of it.

why did you use the paracord? I forgot to ask why it was on the ground around the plant. I have lots of paracord so I'm curious.

It's to ID the plant. GV3's got three knots. Everything else in the HR patch was GV1's and in the PH patch it was all GV2's except for the lone GV3. It was a fast, easy way for me to label the plant. I have been making labels using the plastic from milk jugs, but my Sharpie was coming off in the rain.

I went to check on the 3 plants left from the 4-20 planting this morning. Two of them had cashed. The only one that is left is the BP. Not sure if it was too much sun, but we have had a week of no rain and sunshine filled days.

I went down to the holding grounds to water the plants. I could only find 6 of the 7 older ones there. I had trouble finding the 7th one once before. All 5 of the F1's are alive, but one has a funky looking leaf. I saw that on some of the Slo3's.

I'm not sure where the ancestors of the Bag Seed Testers came from, but looking at the leaves, I'm pretty sure it wasn't Mexico.

While down there, I grabbed the tray of CP1's and CPDA's {the ones I couldn't remember what they were a few days ago} and took them to the AL {bugout patch from the bushcrafter thread} patch. There was 7 CP1's and 3 CPDA's, although one of each of them had a weak spot on the stem. While they were in the pack, the other plants held them up. Once by themselves, they would fall over. I planted them anyway, but I'm pretty sure both are going to cash.

I put the three CPDA's and one CP1 in the east part of the patch, with the CP1 going into the hole with the tree cut off at chest high. I topped the CP1.

This hole {the CP1} had more clay in it, and when I came back this afternoon with more water, it held water better than the other three holes.

Since I had 10 plants to go in 8 holes, I dug two more holes in the west part of the patch using 2 cups of 13-13-13 and 1 cup of 15-0-15. I know two of the plants are likely to die, but it was a good excuse to grow the patch. I didn't top any of these CP1's. They will be ready in a week or so. They will be needing water by then anyway.

I have found these 3' cups are a good compromise between ease of transport and wet/dry resistance. Carrying a tray with 10 plants in one hand is hard to beat.

The west part of the patch is in much rougher stuff. Lots of debris left over from cutting the pines a couple of years ago. I used some of it to keep smaller varmints from messing with the plants. Also sprinkled plenty of the stinky stuff around. I had gone through half the bottle of spray stuff in a week, so I got the bigger container of granules.

T-Pig is 49 + 10 = 59. {although 2 of those are short-timers}

After I was done with the AL patches, I ran by the camp to refill my water bottles,

then watered the 3 plants in the BP patch. They are looking pretty good. All the patches in older, thinned pines are doing very good.

Here is the Slo2. She is about belly button high on me. I topped the two main tops and the two tallest side limbs.

I topped all four of the main tops on the two CP1's and fim'ed a couple of the taller side branches, this time on purpose.I may top one more time. Will wait and see how they grow.

This one would be about titty nipple high to a man about an inch shorter than I am. {the tallest of the three}

I am using about a 1 second squirt of MG liquid plant food and a B-12 tablet per gallon of water. The B-12 helps with root growth, and I got about 3 cases of the MG for super cheap, so I'm going to use it a little along.

I've never had this many single holes before, so yes, I guess you could say it was my best start. I used to grow in 6-8 plant trenches, and they didn't get very much TLC. Not that these will get too much themselves. I have yet to plant any of the main patches from last year. They are closer, so will get more attention.

Not sure if it's because of the bigger numbers, but I've had more plants topped by deer this year than I can remember happening in the past. And there was the late frost, and the early flower problem. . . . So to me, it hasn't been a smooth start. If all the patches were like the HR and BP patches, I would be very happy. They have grown from the get go with no problems at all.

Always are eh ;)
The grow took one of those turns yesterday. I was gifted four Cannatonic #4 cuts. I have them in my five gallon rooter now. This is a high CBD/low THC strain that I hope will help my wife, Sister and BIL with some of their pain issues. The giving spirit in the medical community is a wonderful thing. A big thank you to the RIU member who sent me the cuts.
