Covid stimulus, 600 hundred bucks but now it's a felony to download Torrents or stream pirated tv. Oh and vape carts and hardware can't be shipped

I'm not saying that's everyone but a good chunk of people just wasted all of the stimulus on buying things they didn't need. There are too many Americans that don't know how to manage their money. They could pay their bills but use their money for things they want not what they need.

I agree the job I work at the starting pay is $25 an hour. With that said we had some people who had been trying to get in for years quit since they could sit at home and make just as much as going to work. We had people who had been here 10+ years just quit so they could do the same. A lot took advantage of that and it really wasn't necessary.

The slum lords deserve it yes but they are human or do we forget that?

Are there that many? The way some of you talk it sounds like the majority of landlords are slum lords. That is not the reality of my industry. We have some bad eggs, but not many. We have a lot of renters who totally suck and have zero respect for themselves, their neighbors and least of not us.

Probably the same people who don't want to pay their college loans. Like my tenants who think that somehow they should be able to count their car payments against rent...because......everybody needs a car.

I haven't personally had to experience a slum lord. I had worked for a painting company and we did a lot of work at government funded housing and that is were I seen the most slum lords ever.
 
Had a friend who put his life savings into a rental, thought it would make a good retirement. Felt sorry for some asshole who had a sob story. Ended up pouring concrete down the toilet and taking out a load bearing wall in the basement to fit his ping-pong table. Life sucks for a lot of landlords right now.

How about stealing a $20 watch in a store? Should that be an infraction? How about stealing thousands of dollars of other people's work a year? Pay for your shit.

No not all I agree it is a business and a way to make money but have to keep up on things not let it fall apart and have black mold in the restroom basement ect. I have met some great landlords and some slum lords there is a difference

the tenants sign a legally binding doc that they will pay rent monthly. let's start with the core issue.

Dude, I get mold in my apartments all the time. People are stupid and dirty and most of the time cause the mold themselves but not taking care of their units and then they don't report it till it's a major problem. Mold is everywhere in the world. And most of it is black, but not the black mold people think of. If you reported it to your landlord and they don't do anything, you report it to your town and see how quick your landlord jumps.

Yes before the next person comes in they do require a "fresh" paint job. That means go in touch up and leave. I have worked at some places were they had mold and just slap a fresh coat of kills on it. Even better a place had beg bugs just shampoo the carpet good to go.

Whining? Stating facts. You seem to think that everyone out there with rental properties are multi millionaires and slumlords. You don't have a clue obviously.

Payback time for working hard, saving their money, and owning property? Are you serious?

Once again I totally agree it is a business and agreement that did not have to agree upon. With that said I have seen tenants pay rent on time and in most cases be good tenants and the house maintenance was not upkept meaning the roof was not redone and was leaking. The basement would flood. As I said not all land lords are slum lords but there are slum lords out there

I walked through a friends rental awhile back while helping him with some repairs. This was before covid. Really nice guy. He worked with the deadbeat tenants for over a year before he finally had to have them evicted for non payment of rent. Before they left they did a number on his property. Stopped garbage service so they didn't have to pay so there was months worth of nasty trash piled in the backyard, holes in the wall, knobs busted off cupboards, all kinds of crap. I don't know how much the final total was to get the house ready to rent again but it was close to $20,000. And the deadbeat couple that didn't pay their rent were both driving brand new cars that cost $40,000+ each. Much nicer than what my friend drives. My friend drives a late model used vehicle. He worked hard all his life for everything he has. The money he had to use to repair his property should have gone to his children's college fund.
