Point taken regarding the autism etc. I did live in the Bay Area when I was in the military, but did fine. I guess it also depends on whether you have on base housing or not because now that I think of it, the money stretched farther when I lived on base and didn't get BAH than it did when I lived off base and got BAH. $1200 for an 800sq ft apartment. A lot of times I talk after thinking for just a few minutes, but when I think more about it I begin to disagree with my original assumption.In southern california the money doesn't stretch very far. You add in a child with autism or something out of the budget occurs and you are hurting badly so there's that potential explanation too.
I still don't think it is any fault other than their own that they can't pay their bills. Autism or not... healthcare is free and there are probably other subsidies that I don't know about that the military offers. I think there was even a loan system that the air force set up for emergencies; can't remember what it was called.
