CRAZYTRAINS PC CASE. RND2~dwc

what up everyone,


ok so first journal in a while. i've rebuilt my pc case. 125w cfl, 2 80mm intake fans, 1 120mm exhaust fan out the top, entire case is lined in panda film. i have a whisper air pump rated to fit up to a 40 gallon tank. not sure of the gph but its making a good amount of bubbles. i made a plexi glass heat shield that works pretty well.

i have one bagseed from some good regs and like 5 lemon lime basil.

ok guys feel free to comment, i will need help as this is my first dwc. i do not have a ph meter and will more than likely buy one when i find a cheaper one. the water in there now has had lemon squeezed in it since i dont have ph up or down. today is the first full day of light for the sprouts.

i'm excited to learn a new way to grow. and wanna thank riu for everything i know about growing this great plant.

i got a ?....is that the 10 inch bubble stone you got in there, cause i just made a cloner out of the same exact little shoe box tote and i got the 5 inch one and was just wondering if it was so i could replace mine with the bigger one...thanx

so my dad asked about what i was growing in the case.....i told him lemon basil. i had a jalapeno, rosemary and a basil in there that got moved outside. gunna have to start locking it lol. how often does everyone change their res? and can someone walk me through PHing water?

Seriously though, I think you might be on to something with growing partner plants. They could be used to negate the smell, maybe even supply some Co2.

Been a while since I used dwc but it's pretty easy. Just get a ph kit for fish tanks from the pet store. Put 2 or 3 drops of the ph liquid in the little test tube then top it up with some of the res water and it will show you the current ph. I used to top my up with plain water as the level dropped and I replaced it weekly. Hope that helps.

One tip, though...I'd suggest taping over the lid too at least one layer. I use a similar tote (5L) for my white widow and the lid lets in a lot of light if it isn't dealt with. Algae is a bitch to deal with, so its best to just avoid it completely.

Hey cool setup. Can you fit the pump into the case for more stealth?

yea man i just have to make a hold to run the plug wire out of the back. kinda been lazy lately so ive left it how it is.

UPDATE day 6

plants looking good. i have a few things i need to do in the case. gunna wrap the top of the dwc in something reflective to block light getting to the roots. ive got alot of panda film so i will more than likely use that.

QUESTION....when should i start nutes? and is this plant looking normal for 6 days old? ive only growm one bagseed and 2 autos never in dwc so im not sure what to expect.

no pics, plant hasnt changed much. am starting to get roots coming out the net cup. neat.

any comments or suggestions are welcome.

Try starting at 250ppm. They need something to be available for when they start to feed through the roots. Up it each time you change the res.

so today is day 7 and i took pics. starting on her first set of soon to be true leaves, although not all the way grown out ha. i put some flora nova grow nutes in the res at 250ppm like V12 recomended, might i say this man is the god of pc growers. i wrapped the top of the lid in panda film. sicksad, thanks for the rec. the roots are in a dark area now and hopefully loving it. i didn't take any pics of the roots, but there is about 3 or 4 of em growing into the water. temps are staying near 79. my tub is blocking alot of air flow so i may make a table with legs so the air can flow freely around instead of being blocked by old cd cases.

Cool little setup crazy. I would really reccomend gettin that ph meter as soon as you can. Yu can get some ph down and up at ace hardware or other stores that sell pond chemicals if you dont have a grow shop near u. U will use more ph down than up
