Creative ideas for keeping grow tent cool?

2 X 105w cfl and a "1000" watt morsen
Measure your lights with a power meter - ~75% of the total power is converted to heat, and only 25% to light.

Have you ever heard about ***light - heat - cogeneration*** ?

In a 2 x 4 x 5 space I wouldn`t use more than 300-350W

1. Unless absolutely necessary get rid of the tent.
2. Put a floor box fan in the tent doorway. Have the fan .blow air .into the tent.
3. Pick up a couple little 6 inch fans for inside the tent. You can run them with the flap open.
4. If possible, keep the plants farther from the bulb. Gives less growth but less heat.
5. Bend the main colas so they are parallel to the floor so they'll be farther from the bulb.
6. Weather is getting cooler so factor that in to whatever remedy you try.

Remember that fans have 2 modes - suck and blow, and that heat rises. Fans on the floor should blow cooler air into the tent. Fans near the top of the tent should blow the hotter air out of the tent.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Have a look to watercooled led light - maybe it fit in your grow

Yea I have been looking into that. On the way from overseas I have some citizen and cree leds on the way. I'm sure I can cnc and machine some aluminum to make a decent water cooled heatsink. But right now the air temp where I live has dropped so drastically that I am no longer worried about the heat until maybe summer time.

Well the morsen is not a true 1000w only pulls less that 200 w.

Thanks I never thought of that
And in such a small space the air movement created by the incoming air from a proper exhaust while the tent is closed should be plenty. The other fans are keeping the heat from the lights from rising efficiently as well as taking up extra space and even adding a little more heat from their own motors.

i have my exhaust going to my attic

thats what i was thinking when i bought everything but i closed the tent up today because the air temperature finally dropped 10 degrees

i read something very similar to this but thanks. i definitely did my research before coming to you guys for help. and trust me i have cut no corners on this grow.

Anyways thanks for all your help.
I know this is old, but in hopes this guy gets to see this -- if you live somewhere that experiences freezing, you DO NOT want to exhaust into your attic. It can, and likely will eventually, cause major structure damage in your attic, from the mold/freezing roof sheathing

If you live somewhere like southern FL it's likely not to be a issue obviously, but if I exhausted into my Canadian attic in winter, it'd be a major uh-oh.
