Hi people!

After much hours of reading i think that those cree leds are killers. I read a lot about diferent types but i think that i will give a try with these ones - cree cxa 3070 that other people write about here on the forum. THere is this italian site here that i can order some. What do u think of the prices? Can u guys suggest me of a driver for the leds and array from this site? Thanks a lot for the info.

the link for the leds are:

Gracias

I'd look for some Cree 3070 AB bin COBs, as those that you linked are Z2. AB bin are the best quality and shouldn't cost much more than Z2 (I could be mistaken). It depends on how many your looking to get. I currently prefer BridgeLUX's VERO 18 series, as they are more affordable, although I believe efficiency to better with the Cree 3070 COBs.

When you say vero 18 which model should i search for? because it had more than 10 options maybe.. do u have a model code for it?

If you find DIY "confusing" and your in Italy I would definitely give these guys a try if you can afford it

http://www.spectradesignlab.com/spectra-4cob.html very nice pre-built fixtures

Plenty of informative threads that can teach you how to build a cob panel on here.......It's really not that hard:)

good luck

How much are they asking for one of those?

I imagine pretty soon there will be a flood of cob options..

thanks a lot PSUAGRO. You know more professional lights that could be sold on the net? i did not see the price for the Spectra 4COB.... I think the best think would be to buy one cheaper from the net first understand more things about led lights and then build my own, because at this moment i have many gaps and i want to succeed. I read a lot about chinese lights, the majority of people are quite happy for the price efficiency but they cannot be compared of course with the powerful custom led lights.. if u know what u do i guess.

I think Zang said around 500 euros for the cob and rebel panels......their coming outwith a big fixture using unknown atm cobs to cover a4x4 to 5x5 area with variable wattage ranging 100-1000w! Should know the final details next week....

Anyways it's all the the led companies sticky.......he's involved in the project

i vote no on that. only chinese LED i've heard consistently good things
about is evergrow, and they only sell to folks who are looking to buy 12
or more panels. even then, it's still not as efficient as a DIY panel and
if there is a problem you have to ship it back to china to get it fixed.

if you think the best idea is to buy a cheap one online then build one, do
yourself a favor and just go to the bathroom right now and flush the money
down the toilet. you will be less frustrated and waste less time flushing the
money than if you actually try to grow under a cheap LED. i spent $2000
on bunk ass lights before i learned that lesson. here is a list of things (and
the links where you can buy them) you need to build your first light.

you need LED or LEDs, here's a link to a vero 18, 4000 kelvin

It really depends on your project, layout, future, etc.

If your planning on using these COBS for vegetating, than I'd roll with some 5000K, 80 CRI V18's. I believe the higher in CCT (correlated color temperature), say 5000K-7500K, the better for vegetating. There may be some who disagree but I've been led to believe this logic and so forth stand by it. The opposite goes for the lower values of CCT, 2700K-3500K, as they favor flowering and budding.

I personally went with the 4000K, 80 CRI (color rendering index). I based my choice on the wavelength/spectra vs. intensity graph for this model, as the 4000K shared the best qualities (high red and blue) of both the 3000K and 5000K.

I believe IndianaJones has done you a favor by laying out examples of things you would need in the case that you decided to build your own COB(s).

If your interested in my advice, in respect to choosing whether to build your own light fixture or buy a fancy looking luminaire, build your own creation. It's fucking amazing how much frustration will take place during your first build and yet you will have the widest grin once you turn the lights on and witness your own efforts in motion.

Amazing info. thanks a lot!

So the driver u recommend me and could do 4 veros in how many mA should i run the leds? should it be around 1 mA as i have read in other forums? In this power how many watts will be a driver with the 4 leds?
