Yeah I had some el cheapo strips back a few years ago. From e bay. That I used the holes and when I tightened them down they cracked. So when I started using the Sammy's. When I got them. I noticed the side slots. And I thought those will work instead of the little tiny holes. And theres no circuitry material on the sides. So I used them. Then did the same on this light as well.
Yeah it's those cheap ones that really need the washers all the nice ones have built in washers I would still use the proper holes just so the screws have more surface area in contact with the board but your just using it as a safety net so you're all good I don't ever use thermal tape

Honestly I drive them soft enough I probably dont need thermal tape or paste either. I jus have a big 50 foot roll. So i figured might as well use it.

digikey is also nice, ordered tuesday night, was delivered in germany this morning.
Yeah that's pretty quick but I think digikey has an Eu warehouse I believe. Which would explain why you got it so fast. But either way if not thats still pretty quick. I've used digikey a few times. Never had any complaints about them.

Using 3/4×3/4 alum angle. My frame is 24inches deep. So I cut 4 pieces. 2 for each cob n heatsink. One on each side facing inward |_ _| like that. But spread apart enough the cob and hang below bottom of the angle. So they will set in like a channel.
So theyre basically floating like you can slide them freely?

Yeah. Or you can drill a couple small holes. And slide the pins on the outside of heatsink go into the angle so they dont slide. But even then you can jus grab them pick them upand slide them.

So I got bored. I have two 300 watt bloomspect Ebay led lights. That are super heavy on the blue spectrum. So I've been vegging with them. Well they suck. I wanna build a sammy strip light to veg with. But until then. Use what you got right??? They were free. So why not use em. And it gave me something too do.

I had two of these big ass corncob bulbs. But they were e39 mogul base for hid replacements.

They are both 100watts omw is 5500k and the other is 6500k they are extremely bright but shine in 360° but not now. Should put out some light.

So I ripped them apart. And I'll put em on an aluminum sheet I have laying around. And run them on the drivers that were inside with them. The bigger one has double row of 3 and the smaller one had single strips double row. 56 diodes on the small ones. 12 strips of 56 diodes in 5500k. And 252 diodes per strip on the bigger ones. Which is 1512 diodes per strip. With 6 strips of 6500k.
There was like a puck of leds on each end I decided not to use them.
Total diode count
(672) 5500k diodes
(9052) 6500k diodes. Total: 9,744 diodes
Spread over 200watts in a 19"×8" area.

Not sure which layout probably the second pic.
