Sorry for being ignorant on the subject, however I've seen a lot of talk about LED lighting and more so with the Cree CXB. It's been advertised all over the site, and a few members have already bought from @welight

It seems like more of an underground market, and only few have any information on it. I'm reading threads, and throughout my mind is a blur. I can't make sense of any of it. It's like a new language to me.

I'm very interested in trying out LED's, however how much of a difference would they make compared to the default HID bulbs. Do they help produce frostier, heavier buds? More yield, Or taste overall?

The price is also a little spend-y, and I'm just wondering if it's really worth it.

frostier ? yes they can be
heavier ? yes they can be
More yield ? yes they can be, especially on a watt for watt basis over the same area
taste ? yes they can be but its hard to define taste.

is it worth it ? depends on your goals. Entry cost is still significantly more than HID, although that gap is narrowing. Easily pays for itself with the electricity savings over time.

You should look up growmau5 and greengenes on youtube you will learn everything about this subject there, one of them got around 1,8g per watt in just over two months.

Thanks for the reply's fellas, looks like I have a night ahead of me. Watching how to make my own LED light fixtures... Great :roll:

1.8g per watt, using LED's thats f**king phenomenal. So it's definitely worth it? I've never heard of anyone hitting that amount using HID's. EVER.

Not for me man... I do recirculating deep water culture. I need my water COLD.

No doubt if you've got the knowledge,experience and time with hydroponics, its unbeatable.Ive got this little experiment going its a soil hydro mix ,its a 5 gallon bucket split in two by a plastic net/mesh.bottom half is like you average DWC with air stone and bubbles.The top bigger half of bucket ( V type bucket shape) is filled with soil.all organic ,worm casting guano azomite peat biochar ect you know all that shit could make a two page list,.also got earthworms in there and there is a layer of rockwool between the water and soil so no sediment gets into the water chamber and at that halfway point there is a drainage tube/hole so the water level never rises into the soil when watering the top with nutrients its kicking ass so far definitely the fastest growth i've seen.

That's pretty damned innovative... haha. I just use hydroton for the stem and roots to grow into sturdy and the root's go right into the water.
