I'm pretty sure it's accurate I set it in the room where I have an inkbird humidity controller and they both are within .5 % of each other. So I know it's fairly reliable .. I don't have boveda packs but I may invest for sure I don't want ruin this crop.
Alright idk I could set something like this up I just have a little more than that pic lol so it would feel the house up which I'm not entirely trying to do. I have been reading that putting them into jars at 70% and slowly going down is okay. They feel dry and my house humidity is at 45- 50% .. so even if they are dry to the touch would you advise leaving them out ? I don't want to over dry it but seeing the hydrometer kinda makes me scared lol...fack

No but you will want to burp them a few times a day.

You don't need to take them out any more... leave them for 24 hours and burp for 30 mins once a day for a week then you might burp them for 1 min q day until they are at 62%.
Mix a half cup of table salt to a paste (like wet sand) with water (pref distilled) put the cup and hygrometers I to a zoplock bag and leave at 25c for a couple of hours, the salt mix gives a known rh of 75% at 25c
So if over night they went to 70% but buds feel dry I shouldn't really worry right just burp once a day for 30 mins and I should be good? I just don't think like you said it's necessary at this point to open the jars so much and dump them out. So much confusing info... it seems dry and is slightly getting a bit moisture back in.. I shouldn't complicate this but I'm nervous about mold lol though the buds being dry I'd assume means they are not particularly at risk at this point. Is that a fair assumption?
I wouldnt be dumping them out anymore. Just open a couple times a day. I use 5 gallon bucket and only fill like 25-30%. Open every day or two or three- the large air volume really slows the humidity spikes down. Can also sort of "shake them up" so everything stays nice and even.
Right on. Thanks man .. I read some info that big mason jars aren't good. I got like a gallon size one that I filled half way cuz I didn't want to risk everything. But I do see people like yourself using big buckets, contractor bags etc. So what's all the worry with big jars and what not? If you dry it correctly and store it how do all these people end up with mold? Just being careless?
Well if you were to completely fill a 5 gallon bucket and then just take the lid off for 30 minutes, its likely the buds on the bottom wouldnt get any fresh air while the ones on top get overdried. But as far as long term storage goes- once you are cured at the right humidity, you could fill 55 gallon drums and it would be just fine.
Lol well dry meaning I can break it up and smoke it no problem. I guess crispy would be a better term.. my NL strain is rock dense hard.. smoking nice.. but like you said I'm baffled by the hydrometer.. I didn't think it would read 70% after the dry. Its like when you dig into the bud the smells are amazing but on the outside is a bit crispy and not as pungent
