Got the plants Tuesday 11-20-12.
Today is 11-24-12.
They came in Dirt and looked Ok and bug free.
Checked for bugs with a 60x.
Rinsed off dirt in RO water and put them in a NFT systemwith a 10 gal reservoir.
They are in 3" net cups with Neoprene disks. No medium.
RO water in the RES with House and Garden Aquaflakes Nutes +Cal-Mag & Fulvic Acid. The only H&G additives I'm NOT using are"Amino Treatment" and "Nitrogen Boost".
The Nute calculator was set to 4 weeks Vedge and 6 weeksFlower for a 9 gal res.

The lights are MH 600w with a Sunleaves vent fan through thehood.
1-6 light and 1-8 light T5 HO with vedge lights.
The lights have been used on previous grows with no problems.

Enviroment spesifics:
RO water
PH = 5.8 tho it drops a bit and needs adjustment up.
PPM = 750
EC = 1.5
Res temp = 72 degrees
Room temp = 77 degrees
Humidity = 30%
Good air exchange

I just drained the Res, rinsed it out and refilled with RO water.
The water was 5.8 PH without me adjusting it.

What is the problem?

Looks like a little low ph shock is all. Give it a week or so steady, and monitor new growth color.

i also say. little stressed from soil to aero. i would lower the ppm, with the newly exposed roots and damage done to them, to around 500. 5.5-5.8 is a good range for that stage.

Could just be some shock from the transplanting I always worry going from soil to hydro but your not pushing much ppm wise Any idea how different your humidity and lighting are from the grow they came from ?

I do not know their previous enviroment other than they were in soil.

I will do a 1/2 strenth nute solution to around 500 ppm and we are pretty fussy about the PH so thats never gotten out of range.
We use a Blulab combo meter that is kept clean and calibrated.

Thanks for the quick replies, I will keep watch and see what happens.

This is an update .. 12-9-12

The plants continued to get worse. New growth was stagnantand the leaves were still dying and the stems turning purple. We trimmed thedying ones but more still turned brown then dead.
The roots in the NTF were VERY slimy. My guess is they feltthreatened and started producing a protective barrier that was also cutting offthe food supply. Again it's just a guess.

On 12-2-12 we removed them from the NTF, cut the majority ofthe roots off and kept about an inch below the Root Riot cube and rinsed in ROwater.
They were then placed in a bubbler (10 gal tub w/ lid &air stones) with 1/4 strength nutes.
After a week we can see improvement. Leaves have stoppeddying, the color is returning to the stems and new snow white root growth hasappeared.

We hope the have them back in the freshly cleaned NTFrig in a couple weeks. Root growth will determine when for sure.

Going from soil to Hydro was the problem. Cutting off the old "soil" roots and letting them grow new ones in the bubbler was exactly what they needed.

About 12-15 we moved them back into the NFT table and they have taken off like a shot from a gun.
I also bought some House and Garden nitrogen boost and Amino Treatment and started then on the 15th so I am now running the full boat H&G line.

I will never go from soil to hydro again.

I have questions about my PPM level but will ask that in another thread.
