Cross breeding hops and cannabis

Is it possible to crossbreed a cannabis plant with a Humulus (beer hops) plant?

this sounds kinda far fetched but they are from the same family (Cannabaceae).

if they can cross breed broccoli and kale to make broccolini without bio-enginering could it work for these two plants.

To answer the question... no. The US government tried dirring WWII to do that exactly in order to create THC-free hemp plants that could be grown in the US without "drug concerns." The plants can be grafted onto one another but the results are worthless and the genetics simply can't be bred together... god would that be hot, canna-beer and it would be legal, :sigh:

i know this thread is old, but what is/was og? .....wait im getting a flashback.. overgrow or something?

anyway... whats the story with this F1? anyone got anymore info? any realvent info would be good.. even scientific hypotheticals.

whats the main differences between a cannabis and a hemp variety?? i mean in the way of cell building/division etc.. im sure they aren't 100% the same.
maybe it would be more likely to cross hemp with hops?? it would certainly be a profitable idea.. harvest the hops... sell the leftovers for fiber..

lets just say what if one person was able to graft a cannabis plant onto a hops root structure then doing this once more graft a hops plant onto a cannabis root structure once this is done you could repeat again but changing the sex of both plants, would this incress the chances of both plants being able to be cross-pollanated? in the end you would have two cannabis/hops hybrids hopefully one male one female then you could breed each plant once more making one plant that would truly be 50% cannabis 50% hops,, another question has anyone tryed cross-pollanating hemp with hops?? hemp is low in thc yes but alot more closer to hops then cannabis (yes i no they are both the same but differ in some ways making hemps closer to hops) once you could succesfuly breed a hemp/hops plant it should then be able to then breed with a cannabis plant? correct me if im wrong . thx for your time tell me what you think

As far as I know no one has been able to cross breed canabis to any other species.

some people say they have done it, they both are in the same family and well with most other plant just that is good to get a cross-breed but for some reason cannibas is picky seems to only want to breed with in its own genius , maybe time will tell dont give up people

They taste like nugs because of the green bottles. UV light can penetrate green bottles and reacts with the alpha acids the hops added to the beer resulting in a skunky flavor and smell (light struck for you beer judges).

OG stands for Organically Grown

thats not entirley true, back in the sixty's there was a book about growing and they showed a teq. called grafting.
you take a hops branch, and graft it too a cannabis plant. by cutting a sm. branch off the cannabis w/wedge cut
then you make a corisponding cut on the hops branch about the same size.
then secure it with a wrap and support. never heard of any one doing it (sounds interisting, i'd drink it)
not bad memory after 50 years of the cann.

A rumor a heard a few years ago is that its been done and that its that shit they sale in high times as legeal weed

I might wonder if cross pollinating is possible. THAT might actually accomplish something desirable. I have a couple males, the Hops you get at garden centers is often Male. Just like with weed, if you want a good strain you have to order a rhizome {about as big as your finger} and grow it out. I have a couple good strains too.

Grafting a Cannabis top, to a Hops bottom... the shoot that you grafted to might do something interesting.... but the Hops Root is going to send up dozens, or even hundreds of Hops shoots. Maybe it would be good camouflage. More than anything else, in direct proximity... grafted onto the damned Hops... sounds like a brilliant way to give a Cannibis plant LEAF SEPTORA.

Lol I think I may have a Cannabis bagseed strain that has some hops in it or something as it smells exactly like hops...Or perhaps its just that Cannabis and hops smell somewhat similar...I'm not sure but I love it!
