Still a bit of a mess.. I realy should have topped these plants, I'm going to top them as a matter of course in future combined with a bit fof LST...

Letting them grow 'au-natural' was a huge mistake even though they are allegedly 90% indica they just get too big for my tent.

Going to do some serious defolitation on the plant that's not realy flowering yet aswell to help with humidity- I've pretty much written this plant off as its not even close to catching up with the one thats in full flower, and its a monster!

The plant that is in flower looks to have stopped the strech so it should hopefuly just faten up now. You can see in one of the pics where the cola grew into the light and got burned a bit... bah!

They are drinking like crazy though despite increasing the feed concentration and stable PH, so I will monitor over the next few days before deciding if I can bump the feed concentration up a bit more again.

They are about 66 days old now from opening the seed packet... they seemed to go through a slow phase mid veg, but then just exploded.

I found a couple of clay balls stuck in the roots... the roots have busted through the mesh on the mesh pots in a couple of places and released a couple of balls into the reservoir chamber, lol..

Yes, gotta top and LST. It just makes like so much easier. And add a trellis. I had a "jungle grow" like that and I remember thinking "Nah, I don't need a trellis." Hah!

You've got a right jungle there, amigo. Congrats!

Re. increasing nutes in flower - once they've established their infrastructure, there's not a lot of need for additional nutrients. Search the attached PDF for "calcium" and check out the text on page 7.

Lots of other interesting stuff in that document. He does seem to have a handle on things, doesn't he? ;-)

It was that paper that introduced the concept of "mass balance" which was really helpful for me in terms of understanding how to replenish a res. I've attached a PDF which is a page from the CannaStats site re. res maintenance.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks, I will take a look at that...

Still drinking like crazy, but I just got really brutal with the one that's not flowering...

A) It's not going to flower any where close to the other one, so it's basically sacrificial at this point as I have to go away at some point in the fall, so that's that.

B) The sheer amount of biomass was crowding the other plant, and pushing humidity up.

So basically I'm just going to try to keep it alive enough so it's roots don't start rotting in the reservoir whilst the other one finishes.

I'm a little bit concerned though as I watched a documentary about trees, and why you get clumps of certain species growing in 'groves' ..apparently they can send signals through the entwined root systems and even share nutrients etc. to help each other out, and starve out other 'invasive' plants...

We will see I guess... this whole grow is kind of annoying as I've got the environment dialled in a lot better this time... but we live and learn!

For science!!!!

Honorable mention to these Japanese snippers... Chikamasa pro, model T-55

I think they are designed for Bonsai tree trimming, but other uses are applicable* :D

Small update, plants still drinking like crazy, just had fresh water today to top up the level as EC is 1.5 and PH is 6.

Flowering progress is steady.

One of my net pots has been split in two by the roots though, I hope it can maintain structural integrity!!!
