Conn. police seize pot plants worth $1 million
August 10, 2010

CANTERBURY, Conn.—Connecticut state police say they've arrested four people and seized marijuana plants worth about $1 million after discovering a sophisticated growing operation in Canterbury.

Troopers say they found about 1,100 plants in various growth stages in a house and barn off Raymond School House Road on Monday. Police say the four suspects were building a greenhouse when authorities arrived after receiving a tip.

Police say they levied several drug charges against 40-year-old Thomas Phravixay of Canterbury, 56-year-old Sisouk Phravixay of Clearwater, Fla., 47-year-old Richard Houghtaling of Danbury and 41-year-old William Eichin of Naugatuck.

The suspects were held on $150,000 bail. It's not clear if they have lawyers.

Police say they also found $1,600 in cash.
