Curious About the Flowering Stage of an Outdoor Grow

Hello Rollitup community, this is my first time posting here.

There are currently seven plants that have been growing in three gallon pots out in the sun for about a month-and-a-half now.

The strain of these seven plants is unknown to me, however I believe they are indica dominant due to the broad leaves on them.

They are all over one foot tall now, with the tallest being 18" and the shortest being 11" (I topped that one and now it has two nice colas coming up)

I wanted to start the flowering stage of these plants now because I am located in the Pacific Northwest and our climate is not very weed-friendly. It rains or is cloudy almost all of the time, however our summers are nice enough for plants to thrive. I am trying to fit these plants flower cycle into the few good months of sunlight that we will have.

Right now the sun rises at around 6am and sets around 9pm, so that is 15 hours of sunlight.
I was wondering if I were to move the plants inside, in a closet, to give it 12 hours of complete darkness if that would be more effective than just leaving the plants outside and hoping the fall season isn't too cold?

They are also currently all organic with no nutrient program.
I expect a good amount of you to look at that and tell me I need nutrients. I am aware of this. The plants are looking healthy though, not too stretched or discolored, but I will start feeding them some FoxFarm Tiger Bloom soon.

It'll work. The question is, are you willing to base your schedule around them for the next 60-100 days?

I would be willing to do it if it means the plants will go to harvest, heh.
A few months of commitment for a few more months of high times.

Anybody from my region just leave their plants out up to harvest?

I has once, and it didn't do well, but also didnt get optimal sun. Small larfy nugs, blah blah blah. If you do what you plan it will work, but time consistancy is key, or you may end up stressing them with a funky schedule.

If you feel like dragging your plants in and out everyday, then yea, it'll work.

If I understand correctly, the plants are in pots now, and you want to avoid the cold, bud-rot producing climate that is normal to your area. When you say closet I'm assuming a grow closet. If it is a grow closet could you grow them outside now and finish then indoors? If not them I'm sure that you can grow them indoors now under a flowering light schedule and then move them outside to finish them of earlier than is usual for your latitude. I cannot tell you exactly when the time to move them outside would be but there are many people and threads already that can give a great deal of information that will help you make that decision.

To clarify I do not have an indoor grow closet.
I might look into that at some point in the future, but for now I am just going off the power of the sun, water, and myself.

Thanks for the input, man. So just leaving them out will not be as beneficial to the plant as manually altering their light cycle?

I saw something in another post that sounded pretty brilliant. Buy some garbage cans and put them over the plants and reduce the hours of light that way. I think I may try it at some point.
