Custom full spec

I have a custom grow going which I would like to make a 22"x6.5' led light to fit in the 2x7 space for flowering I have ? Any parts lists out there ? I would like it to not be overwhelming it would be trying to replace 2 315cmh lights ????

You have approx. 12 sq ft of canopy you're trying to flower, so I'd shoot for at least 320 watts of good diodes.
Drivers are usually sold as 240 watts, 320 watts, 480 watts, and 600 watts.
Plenty of different form factors to choose from so it depends on what you want to do.
I've used cobs, QB light engines, and strips on the fixtures I've built and they all work well.

Thank you!!!! I'm leaning towards the strips ! In mean time I'm testing my cmh out , I'm coming from hps of course, but honestly not that impressed ..thanks for the help

Very nice , as of now I'm only familiar with samsung 301b and osram etc. Thing is I'm not willing to pay an extra 2 to 1000 dollars extra for someone's brand name . I got into growing because it's fun to tinker ! So I'd like to make my own light

im coming out with different numbers on this.

12sf x 30 = 360

however 2x7 = 14sf

14 x 30w = 420 watts

I would think that 2 fixtures that are each running a 185w driver would get closest. They usually put out closer to 200w. if each one covered s 2x3 area the overlap between the 2 should cover the extra foot in the middle.

Or he could stick a 240 on each one, would be closer to 35w/sf and could crush that space. then just dim it a little if its too bright . Grab a hlg-240h-c700 or c1050 depending how hard he wants to run the strips and wire in series to make things easier.

I want to push it real good! Haha . I like that idea of the two drivers . I'll be mounting them with the light for added heat in room because it gets cold sometimes ..anyways ...as I sit here and look at the space and the upcoming possibilities I have, I think I am going to make it a 2x2 for my mother's and clones and the other 2x5I want to just do SOG undermy own bare hand built light that's efficient! And not a waste of power. Do these strips like bridge lux have any red diodes or UVB ? Also I think I can get 24 1 gallon pots in the 2x5 area

regarding driving them hard, they are actually a little less efficient that way. lets use a 185 watt driver (200ish actual watts) to make thing simple.
those strips take a max of 1400ma so you could run 6 at full blast. if you instead run them at 1050ma x 8 strips you will get more light out of each watt to put it simple since the diodes are cooler. Ideally though, running them at only 700ma and using 12 strips makes them even more efficient. This would have the added benefit of more diodes spread over your canopy. Really comes down to how much you want to spend on strips and aluminum.

those ones that @TintEastwood linked you to I think have a tiny bit of red, but are 90cri. much better quality of light overall. they would be a great choice, i am thinking of grabbing some of those myself. just search the forum for eb gen3 and you will find a bunch of threads with people discussing them.

if you are only going to flower the 2x5 then i think the 2 185w drivers will be plenty. could probably do just fine with 2 150w.

For reference. Here is what I built during the summer with the eb gen3. Using the 35k 80cri, and 27k 90cri. I'm only driving them up to 700ma vs 1400ma max. No heatsinks required.

While we are all *patiently* waiting for your garage to cool off was wondering what your thoughts are on when to harvest. How many days from flip do you normally go? The 9 strains I've grown are all done around the 75th day, I think. Tried to buy a mix of mostly indica and mostly sativa seeds...

So hlg 240 and I just ordered 20 of those ones from above from bridge lux ?

240W is a little underpowered for a 2x5. You want 300W total to cover the extra foot.

If you go for an HLG-240H-c1050b you would run 10 strips total. If you do this you will probably need heatsinks. If you did 14 on a HLG-240H-c700b you probably could get away without heatsinks.

Personally I would go for 2 ELG-150-C1050B instead. Then do 6 strips per driver. Or do ELG-150-C700b and do 9 strips if you want to go naked.

With any of these dimmers theres an A (internal dimmer), B (external dimmer you will need to wire up), and some have AB which gives you both.

Someone else please check my math and correct if needed.
