Cut rootball to mams before switch to flowering

Hi there,

I have two mams at home that are 3 months old in 3L pots. Now I'm gonna start flowering them in about a week and I was thinking that it may help to remove half of the soil (cutting the bottom half) and add new soil. What do you think about this ?

not really a good idea to shock the plant by cutting the rootball before you flower, i've cut them on mothers to keep them small but wouldnt advise it otherwise

happy growin

The plant will spend a long time growing new roots, time it could have been using to flower. I do take the bottom 1/3 of the roots off occasionally transplanting in soil but always well before flowering.

So I guess the week I was gonna give them doesn't sound like enough. And if I leave it as it is, are they gonna be fine with the soil they have been using for the last 3 months ?

If you're chopping into the root ball I'd give 'em at least two weeks to recover. 3 months in a 3L pot they should be pretty rootbound and will thank you just for going into a bigger pot.
