my dad was a mechanic, and he drove it into me that with tools, like nothing else, you get what you pay for. if i had some very flimsy material to cut holes in, those would be ok, but they would get thrown in my 5 gallon bucket of "shit" afterwards...

I have that exact set, it works great on plastic and for things like bulkheads since it does have just a little bit of wobble.

i'm with ya but i have bought a handful of things at hf that have been awesome: airless paint sprayer, 2 cycle 1200w gennie to name 2 that iv'e been very happy with and saved a ton of dough too.

One tool in particular, the Chicago 10" sliding miter saw has certainly earned my respect.
I have done every but of woodwork on the house I live in now with that saw. It is a great tool.
That being said, when I first got it, it was out quite a bit. I had to square the blade both horizontal and vertical, but I got it dead on across the entire slide. Something to be said for 90 bucks out the door.

I had the bad luck that a special drill broke my bucket. So now i'm using a soldering machine.
Cost 15$
Also good for making holes in the pots themselves ( i buy regular cheap full pots and not the net pots )

If you run the holesaw backwards it works much better on plastic.

Skill saw and a hole big enough to stick the little thin blade down through to start. But yeah, you do need to trace somehow, go in 1/4" all the way around inside the line so it fits perfect snug with the lip of the net pot.
