Cutting off the top fan leaves - recommended?

I somewhere that some (maybe many) cut off/remove the top fan leaves of a flowering plant (presumably the fan leaves coming from the main/top colas) to let more light through to lower portions of the plant. My intuition tells me this is just plant voo-doo and healthy fan leaves should remain throughout flowering. Please advise.

Thanks!

Its best to keep them if they are green and healthy, but if you need to try cutting them in half before picking off completely.

leave them alone. they will more than make up for shading lower buds by providing energy to all the flowers. mom nature knows how to grow her plants better than us, trust her.

leave them on... your best bet is to cut off the lower 1/3 of plant growth a couple weeks before you flower and then you won't have to worry about getting as much light down there.

DO NOT CUT as stated above trim the botom 3rd of the plant if you do anything never take anything thats living off the top of the plant

also forgot to stress the fact that you shouldn't trim anything off of the plant during flower or in the last week or two of veg... it will slow growth and decrease yield. If you already are flowering, just try to keep it as green as possible and hang in there until she's done. If you want you can try to tuck down some of the fan leaves to get a little extra light here and there.

Blue Dream 4wks.jpgThat's what I thought. I will stay away from the voo-doo fan leaf cutting. Here are some pics at 4 weeks into flowering...they are competely healthy.Fan Leaf again.jpg
