Cuttings at DAY 12.

As a sequel to my previous thread - CUTTINGS AT DAY 5 - I decided to post some pics of my cuttings on their 12th day in the propagator.
On two of them I can clearly see tiny root ends breaking through the rooting sponges.
I have 24 cuttings and room for 20 plants in 6.5lt pots of clay pebbles, for VEG
then room for 18 plants, in 18lt pots, for BUD.

But I am not looking forward to transplanting from the 6.5 to the 18lt pots.....
Clay Pebbles never stick together so I am unsure of what to expect?

Here are the pictures:

I don't know if this is any help but I transplant into my table while the hydroton/lava rock grow pellet table is flooded. When using new rock be sure to wash out the loose particles because the small loose particles can inadversely effect ph. Flood the table, stick the drainplug in, start planting. You got fifteen minutes before the water has to be outta the table. It takes three minutes to drain so I know the plug has to be pulled at no later than 12 minutes.
To further this, The clones roots are cupped into my hands, to protect them. I push downward into the flooded rock, fingertips first and gently swoop away from the plant under the surface of the rock. This motion allows the roots to be let out without damage. Then I'll gently push and even out the gravel around the plant.

Maybe it would be better to use grow bags in the greenroom, then you can cut the bags away inside the larger growing pots. I've done decomissioned moms and they had to be cut outta thier buckets in the table. I can understand your concern.

looks lovely. you just take the rooted cuttings out of the pebbles carefully without breaking the roots off. if you submerge the pot with the pebbles and the cutting under water the pebbles should come away from the roots easier. i don't propagate that way but it makes sense.

Thanks guys.
I propagate in rooting sponges
I then VEG in 6.5litre pots (Wilma 20)
and I have 18litre pots for FLOWER (Wilma Big 9).

It's the part about transplanting from the 6.5lt Pots to the 18lt Pots that I'm apprehensive about.

Wilma's are a type of NFT system.
I don't have 'tables' to flood and plugs to use.
Just a 140lite reservoir, and piping/tubing to irrigate the pots.

WHEN I TAP OUT THE PLANT - THAT HAS BEEN GROWING IN THE SMALL POT FOR 4 WEEKS -
HOW MANY OF THE HYDROTON PEBBLES WILL BE HELD IN PLACE BY THE GRIP OF THE PLANTS ROOTS?
AND HOW MANY ARE LIABLE TO REMAIN LOOSE?
.

(I always wash the dust and particles from off any clay pebbles I use. Not JUST because of the issues it causes with pH but also because increases the amount of cleaning that needs doing, after every harvest, and also because it can block up drippers or tubes. Or even cause problems with the water pump).
