DABUPP's CFL Growing Adventures

the ones that are taller and will have the king buds on them. having a fan blow directly on them really helps build stronger stems.

Your plants look awesome.
I have 6 plants starting out this week, but i'm only using 4- 26 watt daylight CFLs right now. SHould I use more??

You will want alot more light on them once they sprout. With 6 plants I would put in a minimum of 12-26w cfls. Most people will tell you to put 100w per plant.

Sounds good stoney, I will keep a look out for those. You are right, they are pretty puny little stems. Hopefully they beef up soon, I do not have an extra fan to blow over them so oh well :/

I would say 4 CFLs are sufficient for sprouting purposes, and one full grown plant. You COULD do 2 plants off that, but you would be able to see that its struggling for light. Do you know that they are all females? Goodluck, but you will probably want way more than that. However, I have seen some amazing things done on this site with only 2-4 x 23w CFLs.

This is about what I shot for, and it worked out well I felt. Had some heat issues but I'm in a really small space.

yea I have found with this many lights you may as well just step up to the hps. i recently went for a 250 and wish i would have taken everyone's word and just got one from the start instead of going with the cfl's. would have saved time and money in the end since i dont use the $120 worth of bloom clf's i use to use.

they are all from some great quality bud, but no I'm not sure if they are female. It's my first grow, so i'm just hoping for at least 2/6 to be girls. Once the plants are about 6 inches or so I plan on going to 8 - 26 watt cfls. Possibly 10. Im stuck growing in my closet, so it's more or less an experiment.

I'm in the same area, and 8 x 23w work fine for my two girls.

Hey guys, she's about 65 Cloudy, 35 Amber. Tell me how many more days you think. I also included pictures of the clones, as well as a single picture of Ms. Small.

trics don't lie...... chop away when ready my man!!

I'm going to be doing an extremely thorough search of her to ensure that I am right about it. If I am right, as I do believe I am, she will be chopped tomorrow night. My only thing is this, I know I can see some new clear trichs on the new growth...how much does this matter? The new growth is honestly minimal, and not like a "new wave" of growth that she is putting out. Mainly now its very small amounts of new growth and increased trich size. So basically, even those these aren't to cloudy/amber yet should it matter since they are so few in quantity?

just be aware that the trics on the leaves may be more mature than the ones on the buds. make sure you get up in there good to check em out. I aim for all cloudy, this is impossible, but it is what i aim for. I'll take amber over clear though. new growth means bigger buds, you must decide if the growth outweighs the time...

Yea, that is what I am thinking about. They are approaching their estimated harvest time, which would be next week to the first week of September. I am not home right now, but basically I just plan on letting the trichs tell me what I need to do. This is why I wanted to go reanalyze one last time to know that I am correct.

Thanks for all your help through this!

Sorry to jack the thread for a sec dabupp but stoney what do you mean you try to harvest all cloudy. I thought when you harvest you want some of them amber?

some people believe that cloudy is head high and amber is body high. I believe this to be a myth. i feel the head/body feeling comes from the DNA and nothing more. to me, cloudy is the peak level of THC and amber is the aging and degrading of the THC.

I am certainly not a scientist, but this is what i believe.

Hey don't worry about hijacking the thread. I want people to be able to find answers and if it's relavent I don't mind. So I have decided to wait on harvesting Ms Tall, she had put on a lot of new growth, and I feel she could use to the end of the month. This is her original harvest date anyway so I'm ok with with it. All clones are going well and I am starting to put them into flower. I'm already worried about how big they will get as it is. Hopefully both new clones take well so I don't screw myself over in regards to that.

I am so happy to hear that you are waiting!!!!! it will reward you big time!!! I've seen some plants put on an extra third of her weight in the last two weeks of her life!!! you won't be disappointed!

Yea I really do feel its the right decision, the plant herself seems to be doing great too. I honestly wish I could wait longer on the clones but I would say that their about 1/3 bigger than my current plants were when they started flowering, and those are coming our great. I will try to snag some pictures so you all can see what they look like and give me input. The stems have thickened since the last time, hopefully they are adaquete. Stoney, how much does it really effect the process? If the stems are a little thin will it totally screw the pootch come flower time? Honestly I would think the stems would fill in some during the flowering stretch, is this wrong to think?

it's not a total game changer... when you, or anyone else asks me what i think, I tell it the best way, aiming for perfection every time. it would be pretty shitty of me if i gave you half ass advice. or some sort of sub par opinion. so I will always give you my BEST opinion. and I'm sure you wouldn't want it any other way!!

Nope thats exactly what I look for, just in situations like this I need to know if I'm breaking some unknown golden rule or if the alternative is simply just optimal.

I'm looking for any good advice on how to dry and cure. I feel lost with all the avaliable methods online. I am a bit space constrained so anything that would work well work that would be great. Only problem methods please :)
