DABUPP's CFL Growing Adventures

I am throwing around the idea of water curing a single one of my nugs just to experience the process. I love the smell and taste so it doesn't have a crazy appeal to me. One bud however on Ms. Tall I feel is a prime candidate for this. During a night of feeding I accidentally spilled supertrive on the top of one of her buds, burning the bud pretty badly. I have let it grow and it has made a decent comeback but if any one of them was going to be a guinea pig its that one. It's ugly in comparison and has obviously spent a lot of time repairing itself rather than buffing up. What do you all think?

What is water curing?

Its basically where you trim the bud off the plant like normal, manicure it like normal, than rather than drying and curing you cure it through using water. After its done being trimmed, you fully submerge it in water for 7 days, changing the water daily. The idea is that everything you don't want in the bud is diluted into the water, leaving only the desirable THC as that is not water soluble. After the 7 day period, you dry it for 7-10 hours and it is ready for smoking. It is known for taking away much of the taste and flavor of the weed, but leaving the THC intact. I am going to try it with this small nug, pre-water pictures below. :)

Her trichs were 60% cloud and 40% amber, where as the rest of the plant is just starting to really get into amber. This is the same bud that I burned the crap out of, so to hold my urge to chop the entire plant, I took this sacrifice to satisfy that urge. Haha, fun little experiment and I will let you all know how it turns out.

When I do the rest of my harvest, I will probably be taking much longer then you listed. Drying for 1-2 weeks, and curing for 2 weeks. This is just an experiment with the worse nug I had. I'm still pretty proud of how it turned out, and will be eager to sample my crop! Also, very few accounts of people actually trying this and I'm down for new stuff.

this is a good idea. i did a search for the water curing after i asked what it was and read up on it and decided i want to try it to some of one of my plants. i want to do a side by side with air and water curing. should be fun to see which i like better. best of luck to ya and cant wait to see how it goes.

Yea I originally stumbled upon this type of curing when looking up how to make cold water hash which is what I'm doing with my trimings. This honestly seems like a fun and different way to cure weed, and may be worth it to do when most of your crop is drying. However I love the taste and smell of weed, so I would never use this technique on my whole crop. This could also be good I imagine if you need to conceal your bud for a trip or something as it cuts down on smell.

So I'm very angry at myself for what I did. When I was trying to lst my plants I failed to remember that they aren't nearly as strong as 2 month old plants. I accidentally broke a bud site off Ms Small clone and a fan leaf off Ms Tall clone. I'm the most upset about Ms Small clone because my two latest clones both came off her, so she is already down 2. I know this will barely effect them in the long run as where this bud site fell off two will probably sprout out in its place (right?), and a fan leaf is nothing to worry about but still....try my best with everything I do in regards to them. Oh well, learned my lesson. Slow and gentle next time.

Its a little late now but whenever I accidentally break a branch off I use it as another clone, even if u wont have room for it as a plant later you will have an extra so that if something happens to one you nav another or you can just decide on which ones are the best and move on with them

That is a pretty good idea, I would have had no room for it but maybe I will pick up some extra supplies just incase that happens again in the future.

even if ya happen to have dixie cup or something small.... put some fine soil in there water it well and stick the branch in it. once you break it or cut it off, as long as you put it in a baggie with some water, you can save it for a few days. like you said.... next time!

Yea if I have anymore casualties that's surely what I will so.

The plants are really looking good, with both of the flowering plants really starting to bulk up. Clones are in flower now so that is exciting, and newest clones should be rooting soon. The water curing nug looked awesome. :) Pictures tomorrow.

Hey guys, update time! Got lots of pictures for you. :) Things are going well, and I have an official chop date I have set for Ms. Tall. It will be August 19th. This will have been 8 weeks from when I believe I planted her (2 weeks before 07/08, so 06/24). However, the pictures are going to start with the clones first. This is Ms. Tall's clone, the less impressive of the two. Both clones have been in flower for only a few days.

Now, Ms. Small herself. For reference in the Cola picture, a Barbasol Shaving Cream Can is exactly 6" tall. I was contemplating the same chop date for her as Ms. Tall. She is not quite as ready, but close. Any input would be good. I would say 80% Cloud 20% Amber.

Now for Ms. Tall. Once again, Shaving Cream Can is 6" tall for reference. I would say she is looking 70-60% Cloudy, 30-40% Amber. Tell me if you all agree about this Thursday as chop time! :)

Yea I really have been thinking about harvesting with the other plant. Do you all think she sounds and looks ready enough for harvest in 3-4 days?
