So i've been looking around this website for the past month and reading just about everyone elses grow journal when i realized that i should throw up what im doin on here. right now i've got a 3' x 1.5' x 5' box in my basement. it was pretty cheap to make. Before I had it filled with CFLs but i just recently picked up a 400watt HPS and Max Wing Reflector from HTG (those guys rock). As far as green, all i've got is 1 female i got off this kid who ran out of room at his place. It's about 24in tall and about 4 or 5 weeks into 12/12. i also planted a seed a got from these BOMB ASS headies, it's been growing about two weeks now. I plan to grow that into a bonzai and use it as a mother plant (assuming/hoping it's female).

well first day on the grow journal and i've already got some potential issues. i started to notice in the past couple days that very middle of the cola where all the the new leaves are eminated from on top are coming out sorta yellow. infact pretty yellow. there are also some white spots on a couple of the top leaves. I think it's either too much heat (too close to light) or maybe nute burn. all it's been getting is miracle grow indoor plant food. i make a mix that's suggested on the bottle for watering every day. it's got an NPK 8-7-6. anyone have any insight? please feel free to comment, i'll take all the help i can get!

and another thing, and this might just be being nervous but i think im starting to see the same yellowing on the baby plant. the only thing i can think of is that since it's on a different light cycle than the big plant, i keep the baby on CFLs outside the box at night then put it in the box during the day with the big plant. can changing light wavelengths (HPS to CFL) like that hurt the plant?>

yo that bigger plant looks very very familiar, haha. You should post the pic of the top of the biggger plant in the plant problems section, you'll probally get more responses bt your probally ahead of me on this one

here are some more pics of the odd yellow colors on my 1 girl. other than the colors everything looks legit. i figure another 4-6 weeks. . .?

i'm just about certain (thanks to email) that the yellow is light burn so i moved the small seedling little girl off the bucket when she's under the HPS and moved the light about four inches higher

yeah id definatly say its burn a hps bulb can get up to 1050 degrees ferenhight. I just learned that and with all the mylar with out an exaust fan right next to the bulb i'd put my money on that. Any who the clones leaves are looking a little darkish too me mabey a purple strain. I love growing bagseed too though because its like a mystery on what your going to get. Also the seeds are a special suprise in the bag!

funny you should mention the exhaust, i was just about to add some pics to illustrate that. when i looked up fan prices all around, everything was damn expensive and when i realized i pretty much built a green house i knew i would need someway to get fresh air. but i couldn't figure it out on a budget. in a drunken stupor, as i was admirign my work, it came to me. on hand i had duct tape, an empty case of beer, and a table fan. a little mcguyver action later i had a decently capable exhaust fan. I let it run 24/7. it draws in fresh air from the bottom sides of the walls through two inlets i cut in (see pics).

only i htink that all the air that circulates through makes water evaporate from the dirt quicker so the soil always seems sorta dry

that is a pretty neat setup witht he fan and 30 pack box, but you shure you thought up that all by yourself? and who is your buddy that gave you that plant cuz it is sick! i wish i could get my hands on one of those haha

that fan was all me. that budding bitch is another story. you da man. i got that hydrometer and the foxfarm this morning. 2 tablespoon per gallon? i left the hydrometer in there for more than an hour and the current temp in there is 77 and the relative humid is around 25%. that's with the fan on the highest setting. i turned it down to medium power and will wait to see what that makes the inside like. i need to get the humidity way up i think ,to atlesat higher than 60%

last night i tried the ol' wet sponge in the plastic bag trick and it got the humidity up to 37%. but when i checked it this morning it was back to 19% so i rewet the sponge and i guess ill see later today what its like

Things are well, very productive weekend. i noticed the rooms around my house started smelling like plant. not really like buds, but like a garden. so rather than blow $150 on a CAN filter, i just built one, for like ~$60. using some duct reducers, screen, and activated charcoal (yay ebay) i modified my miller lite fan to filter the exhaust. it works surprisingly well. when i get around to it ill put a step by step guide on how i built it ( it was pretty easy) somewhere. it also reduced the CFM of the exhaust, keeping the humidity a littler higher (between 25% and 50%). there are no more signs of burn on the budding lady and the little guy looks pretty healthy too. im going to look into when i should start pruning it to make it into a bonzai.

i don't think you have to worry so much about the humidity. i thought it was supposed to be high too but there are many people that grow around 20-30% and don't have problems. i know higher humidity can make your plants get mold and other problems easier. BUT i'm a rookie and only know what i've read, so i suppose there is a reason for higher humids... more dense buds? yield? 3 of my 5 just sprouted so we'll see. and my humidity is dead solid on 19% everytime.

i do like the setup... just wish it didn't say miller lite.... haha

I agree. Don't sweat the humidity (pun). Rather..... concentrate on light, accurate ph and nutes.

That's a good thing...ya know you got decent air movement!! That ghetto filter is pretty interesting...what was the major purchase in building that?
