Dark green weed smells like spicy grapefruit

So i used some seeds out of a bag of mid, they are now about 4 inches tall, after a week. I thought since they came from a bag of mid that they wouldn't be that great, but the leaves already smell super good, like mint/grapefruit/pepper. very citrus like, is this a good sign, or does all weed smell like this so young?

The weed you pulled that seed out of is your best clue to what you can expect. I wouldn't look too deep into smell of leaves in veg. Are the leaves roundish or are they thin? Is the plant short and compact or tall and airy? This can give you a clue to whether it's sativa or Indica dominant and that will also give you a clue to what you can expect.

Agree, man. So many people today have never experienced a true sativa. Thai weed (especially the Juicy Fruit Thai) will put anything to shame! Too much stony, foggy Indica weed and hybrids since the indoor grow scene came about. A purely cerebral, extra sweet Colombian, Mexican or Thai is unmatched.

On "mids" bagseed, see the link in my report to Mexican schwagg grow for one report on this. You're not going to win any cups with this stuff, but I think it is possible to have excellent results from these beans, if you grow them right. The difference in quality between the final product you grow and the bricked brown stuff in the bag is to the point where you won't recognize the two as the same thing.

On highland Thai, I grew that years ago, and yes, the buds smelled exactly like juicy fruit bubble gum, and it had a nice "up" sativa high.

Unfortunately, every OTHER characteristic about the grow was negative: The plants stretched like crazy, making mostly stem, and little bud. Plant took FOREVER to finish (IIRC I stopped it at 14 weeks and it still wasn't done). Bud yield was pitiful, and the plant went full hermie. And to add insult to injury, though the flavor was 10/10 and the effect good, absolute potency wasn't that high. Perhaps that was my fault for harvesting "early". I was also fairly young and inexperienced growing this, and I could probably do better now.

But this was a good early lesson for me in why pure sativas don't do well in small indoor setups, and I would be wary of recommending something like this except to experienced growers who are looking for something different.

You can still get Thai and a few other sativa landraces but you can't even come close to finishing them outdoors in the north maybe CA, FL,TX etc. possibly South Carolina so I'm happy with the NL's and Skunks its just more people enjoy hybrids cause you want landrace sativa its available just sucks for indoor and you need a good climate and a lot of them landrace sativa's are very hermaphroditic especially Thai but its their for you if you think its best. I just don't understand how people can bitch about indica genes if you don't like hybrids don't buy them buy landrace sativa if thats your thing but I would think nevilles haze should get you close enough still kinda shitty for indoor growing but it will do much better then landraces indoors.

I grew some thai weed when i was like 16,and your very correct about very long finish times,my plants had like 50 long thin hair covered buds about the size of your pinky in roundness and maybe 6 inches long, but as i was growing up north in the chicago area, and out doors, there was no way to let them finnish properly, and as u said the finished product looks smelled great but just wasnt finished to get full affect,if youve ever smoked real thai stick back then,it was a true experience of almost an opiate high, lol, and the way it was tied up was very cool,,ive never grown hybreds,so i have no right to put it down,i was simply stateing weed was much differnt way back then, even smoked some black african back then, and grew some too, lol, im not sure what this is im growing now,as i got the seed from my bother in co,he hasnt really explained where he got the seen, and hes a real stoner, lol,he just said it would be great and not to ask questions, lol

Well I have two plants right now, one is very dark and woody, with very fuzzy fat leaves. Kinda small and bushy, the other is taller, lighter and has long fat leaves, but not hairy. They both smell the same, but the light green one has less of a sent. They are both about 2 1/2 weeks old and not above 5 inches.
