Hey guys. 1st grow here and just dried my buds for 2 ish days. Smaller SCROG buds under a t5 - anyways we jarred them earlier today and i cracked the jar to basically no odour...other then it smelling a bit 'wet' Jar is open now and ill put the lid on in another hour. Did i harvest too early? Are they still too wet?

They look great and to the touch, the moisture has def sweated to the outsides.

Cheers

Did it smell when you chopped them down?
Where did the rh% in the jar sit after a few hours if being sealed?
Where is the rh sitting at now?

2 days sounds off, it takes my popcorn 3 days to dry at 70f/50rh

Ok - so i def jarred them to early. And yes they were dank and the room was/is still dank. Wasnt a tonne of smell in the drying room though. Maybe its the moisture keeping it in (i hope)

Yeah 2 days seems remarkably fast for it to be fully dry. My guess it that either you didn't dry it long enough or the humidity is much too low for ideal drying conditions. Do the stems snap when you bend them? A good rule of thumb is that you want the stems to snap when bent, but stay connected. If they don't snap, it's too wet, and if they snap right off without staying attached it is too dry.

Update - ole lady got a bit antsy when i was at work and there was a miscommunication regarding the 'snapping' part.

From here foreward, should i keep the lid off awhile longer? Its been off for 2hrs.

Will put RH gauge in as soon as lid goes back on. Are my babies still salvageable?

Heres her sister still in flower.... Sticky as all hell and frosty. Not a tonne of odour w nose right to the bud.

You can take them out of the jars and put them in a paper shopping bag for a couple of days. Will help dry them and tighten them up a bit before jarring. I usually move the buds around in the bag once or twice for even drying.

Wet buds in jars can mold pretty easily.

Hope this helps.

10-4 i was following the curing guide here for 'perfect cure every time' in the jars.

You shouldn't be making any decisions until you gain an understanding of what your RH is. Until then, you are in the blind and thereby assuming. If your jarred RH is currently above 65%, then that bud will quickly go 'sour', turning dark with an unpleasant odor. If your jarred RH is currently below 55%, then you can have no cure and you will be smoking hay. Place the hygrometer in the jar ASAP and watch it. If it hits 60% and is rising at a fast rate, say 1% every hour, then remove it from the jar for a couple hours, as its stabilized RH is certainly above 65%. And make sure your ambient humidity is below 65%, or else you're wasting your time by sitting your buds out.

I always start my cure before branches snap I dry until the buds feel dry on the outside and the stems snap but don't snap in half .....then I go into paper shopping bags with the top folded this makes it easier to dump the buds once or twice a day on a table covered with paper to let the moisture out then I rebag them ....it's one extra step before final jars but well worth it ....and if you can feel the warmth/moisture spread them out and let them out for a while like I mentioned above then rebag or jar them in your case ......also a cure takes at least a month before you get the benefits in smell or taste not just a few days ......a few months even better .....GL

another thing to think about.. how do the buds smell if you squeeze or bust down a nug...

also, the flavor doesnt start to grow and deepen for about a month. 3 is a pretty nice cure

when youvsay smell wet, what doesbthis mean?
ibtry and dry for 10-14 days, 2 is a quick dry honestly..

Ya i realize this now - weve worked so hard and overcame quite a steep learning curve to get them to even finish healthy.

This is our family's medicine and our first grow. A little over zealous!!

In paper bag now drying out and we'll see what happens.

Much love brothers and sisters.

So overnight had the buds in a paper bag - nice and crispy. Put them in a jar for a couple hrs with hygrometer - held at 80%RH.

They are back in the paper bag now.

Next step(s)???

Also, quick question about the sister - she went through some hard water and low PH issues, but seems to have made a stronger recovery. She has new and greenish-white pistils popping through the bud everywhere ....is she just fully recovered now and trying to finish strong or is there something wrong?

Ehh, you should have followed my advice when I told you to pull them out at 60% if the rate is rising at least 1% per hour. To allow it to get to 80% (let alone hold it there for hours), I only hope that absurd humidity wont result in degraded bud; such damp conditions at this vulnerable stage should be avoided like Ebola virus.

Next step(s)???
Place back in jar after being left out to dry a bit, follow abovementioned advice about 60% and rate of rise. Be careful not to leave out too long and overdry.

They were in the jar for 3hrs tops and then back in the bag. Im nervous about leavin them in the bag overnight and possibly drying out.

When you get close to 65%, pay attention to the way the bud feels so in the future you might have better reference when to begin curing process. But as it stands now, you started too far off and so have no choice but to be attentive. I'd place the bud back in the jar and watch to see how it's rising; if it gets into the high 50's/low 60's but is rising very slowly, then you know you're close to that magic 65% number. I'd leave it in the jar w/ the lid off and no air circulation, assuming your ambient house RH is relatively decent. However, if it's still rising fast then you must continue to dry. This is a learning experience, so just do your best and try to gain experience.

You bet. You took the words right out of my mouth about having a reference for next time. Sister plant will likely come down this weekend so i guess the timing here is good.

Where i have them is around 65-67% RH and ill toss em back in the jar overnight.

Cheers
