As I go thru the flowering period I noticed some buds getting less light I think I have found the way to maximize my yield by using LST and select defoliating on the much bigger buds and tying those smaller buds up towards the top in a week of doing that those small small dime size buds have become a lot more similar to the large buds from doing this

Anybody else have luck with this or any other methods? I'm doing a lot of experiments with this first grow with many different methods of training and other stuff

The crop looks very nice. And if this is your 1st grow then you've hit a home run for sure. On your earlier question on training, I personally am not a LST fan, and I don't want to start LST war here. But if you injure a plant it takes time for it to repair. I prefer bondage if needed. If you are looking for that perfect grow with only grade A type bud then you'll need to work under a screen. With the size of your room it looks like this would be difficult. A good way to open up the plant, enhance side branching, and control the height is by topping, and the more you do it the flatter the canopy becomes, and smaller each cola gets But this will lengthen the veg time with every top you do.

I don't have experience of this, but I'm starting to do it (or started the LST already actually), although I'm only on day 18 of flowering, mystery-seed, only one lady. check my journal for pics.

I like to FIM once when they get 4 or 5 nodes and let them go, most of the time they stay close the same height, but if I get one that takes off I LST it to allow my light to effectively get to all my plants. I do want to try SCROG but I don't have the meds to wait for a 60day veg, or longer.

I know what you mean when you don't get equal dispersion of growth after a fim it can be the same after a topping. I've also used LST to slow a fast growing main. But in the end the slowing comes from the time it takes to heal the damage done in the LST. And depending upon your grow set up the LST is a very viable means of controlling the canopy. I'm just saying that if you can find a way of bending without breaking you'll end up with a better yield.

I may be mistaken but i thought LST was low stress training, which is just bending over the branches with out breaking or cutting them. But the only cutting I do is the FIM when they have vegged for a couple weeks, then i just bend over and tie down any unruly tall branches.
