Deadhead OG from seed Grow (w/ Pic's!!)

Deadhead OG from Cali Connection
Hey guy's, I've got a few different strains in veg in my garden at present, and I thought I'd finally get a journal started here with the deadhead og's I've got. Before I get started here's what I know about this strain:
"DeadHead OG ('91 Chemdawg(skunk va) X SFV OGK F4) - This is the famed Original 91 chemdawg AKA the skunk VA cut. as it was the only verified cut chem gave out. his online screen name is Skunk VA. hence the reference..The legend of legends. the creator of so many legendary strain like OG Kush, Sour Diesel and so forth. This cut was crossed to my SFV OGK F4 male. think Lemon Funk skunk... Flower time will be 8 weeks" (This info' is from the Cali Conn' site)
OK so I started off by germinating all 10 (regular) seeds paper towel method, 8 out of 10 seeds "cracked" within 3 days, once tap roots grew out I transplanted them into 1.5" R/w cubes, I do this by cutting half way through the R/w cube to make it split open and then soak the cubes in water overnight, then I open up the cuts I've made in the cubes then I put the seedling straight inbetween the rockwool then close them up again. The R/w cubes are then put under a 150w CFL to sprout, the other 2 seeds showed no sign of gerimation so they were binned off!! I start count of week#1 (1-11-2010) when all the 8 seedlings have sprouted, then I wait till the main tap roots start to show through the bottom of their cubes, they are then transplanted again into bigger 6" R/w cubes and watered (see pic's: end of wk#1) And the 150w CFL is exchanged for a 250w CFL, the 8 seedlings are now left to veg a while, being watered/fed twice daily with only water (keeping ph between 5.5-5.

till the end of week #2 (see pic: end of wk#2).....

Weeks 3-4
Start of Week #3, seedlings are given their first feed with nutrients and moved into my main room, still under a 250w CFL though but now they are surrounded with fans and airflow to tougthen up their main stems. (my main grow space has full intake/extraction fans, carbon filter, controls, aiflow recirculating fans, etc). The nutrients/additives I'm using are: Canna Aqua Vega A+B, rhizotonic, cannazym and Superthrive. First feed E.C.-1.2, ph-5.6 (Hand fed). At the end of week #3 all seedlings were topped and then moved under a 600w HPS to really get going. Also R/w cube tops had to be covered with aluminium foil as they were starting to turn a little green!!
Week#4 is where I'm now up to with these, and thery're doin Great!! All showing really fast, strong and healthy vigourous growth too (see pic's: wk#4) Current feed level for this week E.C.-1.3, ph-5.7. I'll be keeping all 8 plants in just their 6" R/w cubes till I have sexed them....

Looks great man ! I've did 3 myself and 2 were males 1. Female just showed her first white hair yesterday. Good luck wish I could tell you how she taste. Ive also got 4 Tahoe OG & 5 Chem Dawg #4 from Dr. GreenThumb going to do a side by side they are about 10 days now.

Thanx mate, I also have Tahoe OG, out of 7 plants only 2 ended up being female, I'm hoping for better luck with the 8 Deadhheads though.

*Week #5* :leaf:

Ok so another week has passed and the Deadheads are really takin off now!! (see pic's week #5). Two have already shown pre-flowers and were both male so now I'm down to just six :roll:

Current feed levels for this week - E.C.-1.4, ph-5.7.
I'm gonna start flowering next week!! So as soon as they show sex for sure I'll be moving the females into pots and tossing the males away.

Thanx mate but unfortunately for me most of the DeadHead OG's are male by the looks of things!! But I'm gonna give them a few more days to show sex for sure. I'm only on 6th day of flower so...
But I do have other strains in flower too so it's not all bad.

Did you take at least 1 or 2 clones of each so that you can hold onto the ones that are female?

Also, just a suggestion, but if you're growing from seed and don't want to waste time vegging out and then waiting to see if it's male in flower, you could take a clone off it and throw the clone into flower....that way, you'll sex the plant and not waste time, soil, space and nutes on something that's gonna get the ax

Not from the DeadHead's mate no, but I did take a load of clones from the other plants I have (TahoeOG, SleeSkunk, OG#18xSkunk) I took 26 cuts total. The OG18S I have was from clones taken from my last seed grow, it's my current "keeper" till I find something better.

Beautiful "architecture" of the plants bro, what are you shooting for like a 1/2 off each of those Tahoes? How is the OG#18 smoke, is it "murderous?" I was thinking bout getting those or some pre-98 bubba any thoughts?

Thanx mate I'm gonig for max yeild on everything I've got, and the OG#18xS is my keeper from my last grow, it's mos def a 9/10 from me VERY potent long lasting buzz, mine tastes like a sort of chemy/lemony/skunky taste I found it very moreish, gave me red eyes on my first try :eyesmoke:

and I'm a pretty high tolerence smoker too.
I also hear good things about the pre 98 Bubba BX it's on my "to grow list".

Week#6(from seed) *Flowering Week #1* :leaf:

So I started flowering this week with 6 plants under a 600w HPS, and I have changed over to flower nutes now too. I'm using: Canna Aqua Flores A+B, CannaBoost (small dose!!), Rhizotonic, Cannazym and Superthrive. Feed levels for this week: E.C.-1.4, ph-5.7/5.8 (hand fed).
At day 3 of this week 2 more plants showed male pre-flowers and were quickly removed so now I'm left with just 4 DeadHead's. Out of these 4 left, so far only 1 is female (still to be comfirmed!!) so I've filled the pot with hydroton (clay pebbles).

Week#6 (from seed), *Flower Week #1* :leaf:

Hey guy's I'm up to day 6 of flower now and out of the 4 DeadHead plants left 2 more are showing pre-flowers and guess what, I think their males!! :cuss:

But I'm not sure and I could do with a second opinion on this please :grin:

I've inclueded pic's of both the suspects, with plant/branch/node close up's too. Plants are named #1 & #2.

I'd say it's too early to tell still. In the next week it will show for sure one way or another. Sometimes what looks like little nuts will turn into teardrops and then hairs pop out. =)

Flower week#1, day #7 :leaf:

...and another male has shown sex so now I'm down to just 3 DH plants now!! The female is still to show me for sure pistells and the other 2 plants left here I'm pretty sure are gonna be male too but I'm gonna give them a few more days to show me for sure... :joint:
