Dechlorinating water...

I never knew anything about this, and always wondered why my plants tips were 'burning' (i thought i was overfertilising) but read about too much chlorine in tap water damaging and stunting plants etc. Is this a major problem? Does anyone know of dechlorination tablets or solutions that are safe to use and will be worth using or is it nohting to worry about??

You can get a chlorine test kit from a local pool supply store and see how high it is. As far as getting rid of it, just let the water sit in open air for a few days and the chlorine will naturally dissapate.

personally i let the water sit over nite. i am going to use the fish dechorinator to see if that works so i don't have buckets of water sitting around

Ive got air stones bubbling away in the bottom of each resevoir, is that getting rid of chlorine? fucking sweet if it is!
The whole purpose of letting the water "sit still" before you use it, is to get rid of the Chlorine before it enters the system and impacts the plants. Yes, it will dissapate from the reservoir - but why put it there in the first place?

And like Weedsmoka says, you don't really need "bubbling". An airpump and airstones speed up the de-chlorinization process with a combination of heavy oxigenation and aggitation, the aggitation "keeps the pot stirred up". But keeping a bubbler in your reservoir is a good idea anyway, so is de-chlorinating the water before it goes into the reservoir!

Well id never heard of doing this, no one had ever mentioned to me about leaving fuckin buckets of water lying around to get rid of chlorine, i was under the assumption just fill a bucket up to the ten litre mark with cold tap water, wack the appropriate amount of ferts and supps in there, ph the water, then bang it straight in each tank, works alright for me!

So is it alright to just carry on doin this, or is it really worth going and buying another couple of buckets and sittin them out overnight or sumthing?
