if you found a badass place to grow in the middle of the woods by a creek and with the removal of 2 trees great sun from morning till late evening BUT this place is also one of the largest deer trails you have ever seen i mean huge there are trees 3 inches in dia that have been rubbed (in case you dont know that means a big ass buck) so with fences piss hair would you even take a shot or would that much deer traffic be a waste of time no matter how much i do to prevent it

hard to say, i mean i have grown in high traffic areas and a short chicken wire fence always did the trick, however i have read about people growing in bc that have deer problems even with an 8 foot fence. in the end if a deer wants if bad enough a fence wont stop them, they can jump incredibly high and weigh quite a bit. but use a small fence and wait till later in the spring when the clovers and other greens start to fill in and they wont waste there time trying to steal your plants with plenty of other food available

well one of the spots i found is about a 200 ft wide opening in the woods but its a deer bedding spot ..lol..bad idea you think?

yes i agree with mogie if ur planting next to a deer bedding area there is a possiblilty that the deer could end up eather trampling ur plant, eating it,or maybe even sleeping on it witch would be very bad so if i where u id plant next to the trees or in a tree lol deer would rather be in a field then in a try and if this place has a lot of deer u also have to worry about hunters //if a hunter spots ur crop wile hunter he will eather steal it kill it or turn it in sooo...yup good luck with ur growing

a good way to scare deer is to string some cheep 8 pound fishing line from tree to tree at like 2 feet and 4 feet, the deer don't see it but they bump into it and it freeks them out,

yeah. deer roam many places, places you would think to put the plant, like next a tree. Deer rub against them, and could eaisly trample your plant. deer problems shouldnt be too huge, but the fishing line would be the best way to keep them away, and it would probably work for other animals too.

yes but fishing line might also be bad//what is someones walking threw there the trip or bump into it lol // they might get suspitios and start looking around //u never know when growing outdoors u want to be extra carfull and extra precatios

i would do some research from google. See if you can find anything about the garlic repellent. you can buy trip wire garlic repellent extract. it is effective. the dear hate it. it might cost some money. as another precaution you could try using something such as wolf urine, dog hair or maybe human hair. im not sure but if there are hunters around, human hair might work fairly well. wolf scent might scare them if wolves live in the area. maybe even if they dont.

For many years I have used a spray made by liquid fence.I plant in a outside area that has a lot of deer .I swear by this stuff it works. I have yet to have a plant eaten by the deer its also good for rabbits if they are also a problem.

Thanks for the post. Questions about animal attacks are a pretty common theme to the outdoor forums. My only concern is that I'm smoking the shit I'm spraying with chems. Hows the smoke?

DO NOT USE CHEMS. use the dang garlic stuff. and if u use chems, make sure u dont use it during the flowering stage. AND MAKE SURE ANY THAT GETS ON GETS WASHED OFF B4 THE BUDS COULD TRAP IT IN ITS HAIRS AND SAP.

i moved my plants to a spot where dear LOVE to frolic. i put up some chicken wire around some trees making a rather large clearing and found that sprinkling some gun powder in a circle around the fence (or 7 feet away from the plants) the deer smell it and run off afraid that hunters are going to kill them. note this only works in places where dear hunting is kinda common.

i would have never thought of that. interesting though. does it actually work? or does it have to be lit?

The deer in my area are like giant rodents or vermin....they eat EVERYTHING...I have tried almost everything from soap shavings to mothballs, hair...all types of piss...NOTHING short of a fence stops these voracious douchebags.
The only thing that has worked for me is 8 foot deer netting which I use to fence in my plots. This has been foolproof so far.
I have to fence in ALL of my gardens if I don't want the bastards to ruin them!
This takes a lot of extra work, for which I despise deer.

liquid fence does a great job, soap, hair, urine, sweat, tightly strung ribbons, are all only very temporary, deer will get used to it and will start to bolden with a week or two.

well if it was me they would all be done shot and processed but im in an area where it wouldnt attract attention............but if your in an area that would get cha some cyanne pepper and sprinkle it around your plant and in the general area deer and other animals wont fuck with it but if ya do that make sure and do it atleast a every week unless its rain'in then ya may need to add more

Theres some good repellents out there they also dont like the smell of sulphur as it represents rotting I live in an area where fences do nothing simply beat up 3 eggs in a mixer mix with acouple gallons of water and spray it on your plants this will last weeks also blood meel is good and is good for nitregeon but washes off quick so it needs to be applied often..

good luck
