Good morning. Just a quick note. I didnt do a Monday update as I took some pics and up loaded Sunday. Nothing to really talk about. They both continue to spit new pistils and have time left.

Was going to have a trim BBQ Saturday but it looks like they might not be done yet. Rest of the week will determine what's what.

Have a wonderful day folks. Il throw some pics up in a couple hours when I get back home.

I saved these for last to show what can be done with a good phone and a HD camera app.

I just started playing with this a couple days ago so I am still dialing it in.

Have a wonderful day folks. As always if you have questions just ask.

The short answer is genetics.

A longer explanation would be more of an educational session.

If you have done everything right up until now and you get purps/reds/blues, the only thing that has changed would be from genetics. Paired with the all over effect, you can bet it's genetics. If I remember right, these were all clones from the same plant? That is a bit surprising for the purps only showing on one plant and may have expressed due to the different stressors you put them through.

I still see alot of glass in your trichs and I'm surprised by that. I would have guessed a 1-2 week difference between the three.

Your experiment has opened my eyes to different possibilities for ganja that I never even considered before.

Thank you very much for doing a side by side grow show like this.

Only thing is not clones. All seeds from same mother. Horribly flawed i know. Next year will be clones for sure.

But thank you for the response on this.

I've cut nitrogen completely now. However I'm not sure whats going on with defoliated. This week she's turning purple. I'm not sure if it's genetic or a lockout.

Would like to know what I'm seeing here if anyone has any suggestions.

Looking delicious. Sucks it is noy pleasant for chewing. LOL.

My crazy mess is kicking hairs still. A few ready when I am. Just need to string a few hundred feet of galvanized wire in my new basement dry room. Woo hoo. A mix of the defol is best outdoors in my book. Lollipop to the 5th node indoors. Glad you got some groceries. Peace. 003.jpg003.jpg

The cola bud is bigger than lower buds because of apical dominance and not because the fan leaves are blocking the light. At least that is my understanding..but I'm a novice grower. It's also my understanding that fan leaves feed the buds, and they feed by means of photosynthesis. In other words...leaves photosynthesize...buds don't.

I'm not saying defoliating doesn't work...what I am saying is people on forums like this seem to have a false understanding when they say that leaves are blocking the buds when the leaves are actually the bud's food pantry.

Wasn't the N cut. That just leads to yellowing the last couple weeks. Most likely K lock out. Your ph can can help aid this in either direction. It just takes a basic ph /uptake relationship understanding with temps involved and adjusting ph for the next 3-4 days temp. If you are still fattening I would raise ph to 6.6- 7.2 in soil. Purple will slow down. Buds get K and P better. Done and going for color? Lower ph to 5.8 - 6.2. On will come the purple. Finish in a modified fridge or heavily ACed room. Used to do the purple thing for an extra $15 a quarter in the 80's early 90's.

We could have a fun debate. Not today though. LOL. People don't understand that they have growing upside down. It's all about the roots. A plant is like an ostrich with it's head buried in the sand. The control and brains are below ground. The vegetation is a much smaller part of it. Just something to ponder. It is worth the time.

From all I have discovered it seems there is a middle ground and both are right. Yes the leaves are food but also block sun from other leaves not allowing photosynthesis. Yes removing leaves takes away food but the plant only needs certain levels of food so I would think it is ok to remove some. I think the big key is to be strategic and not just go hacking at the plants. Some removal is good, some is bad. Each person should learn through experience and not just research. I think the didn't do shit plant is a great one for everyone to start with. From there in time you start using different methods such as lst, hst and defoliation until you get dialed in. True learning is a long journey and not a quick flight.

I cut the nitrogen about a week ago. I Ph to 6.5 every water. It seems I still have more time then I thought though. So would you suggest re introducing nitrogen? Would that help?

If we are discussing the pictured? No need for N if you have no fast yellowing. Pretty close. Take 4-5 days to get moving any ways. I do run 4-26-26 until last week. Then water only cause I'm wasting supplies at that time.

Sup RIU.

Was in another thread about why defoliation is such an at odds topic. I had mentioned I was doing a side by side by side comparison of the 3 styles. I will show some pics of begining of flower and document them going forward for all of us.

Some variables that probably will cause many to disqualify this grow are.... outdoor plants, not clones (all from seed from same mother) but pheno types will cause a conversation, and when they began to flower. Defoliated plant began flowering exactly 1 week after the other 2.

Here is 1st picture this here is 1 week ago when I did a major defoliation. I did not go insane, but its a large difference from natural.

From left to right.

Defoliated plant, Plant I didn't do shit but cut some bottom fan leaves to make watering easier for the middle one and the lollipop on the far right.

Defoliation was on the 14th. Next will be Sept 3rd.
Here is today same left to right.

Now some things I have already noticed.

The defoliated plant became very sensitive to nutrients. To the point where 15% of recommended value began burns. The other 2 took them like champions on 1st feed after defoliation. The second feeding on all went off without a hitch.

Both the defoliated and lollipop began showing nirtogen deficiencies as well while the didnt do shit plant seems perfectly fine. Gotta say I like how the lollipop is and the didn't do shit is budding. Which defoliate is to early for me to say if im a fan.

All were topped and LST thru veg, all went through the same bullshit element issues from being outdoors, and all have had the same nutes the entire time.

Soil recipe 420 soil, FF line of nutes, and lots of love.

All 3 are BC big bud
@Lime
I am doing a similar thing but trying Mani folding v LST. I Should be taking pics more often to see the diff.at the end all will be reviewed.
