Don't defoliate!
I did it as a Noob on my first batch and it stunted them severely.
I got schooled here on RIU.
Use LST, supper cropping, tie down, screen anything to control height.

I learned that lesson the hard way defoliation is not good.

The plant will let any leaf it doesn't want to wither and fall.

When problems arise in nutrient balance, PH, etc. the problem will show itself on those big leaves.

If those big "generator" leaves are removed you weaken the plant.

tuck them ,Bend them but try not to break them.

If you already stripped the plant add 2-3 weeks minimum to your Veg time.
I would run 18/6 till the plants look overgrown. Leave the leaves on.

see topping and fimming in the forums
top after 5 th node.

I started to defoliate because I was using CFLs and I wanted more light penetration without add more watts.

I was mistaken it jammed me up slowed and stunted plants that I had to revive.

Happily 16 were male so I got rid of most of the plant I picked at.

The females got additional wattage in the Veg, from T5 95 watt to a 216 watt T5 Its much stronger and give me more light penetration.
They are well over 70 days and just turning back into bushes in the veg. 18/6

I had one that I did not pick at because it was small.
Its now in my tent 12/12 and growing white hairs faster than my 50 year old head!

Sorry, I don't mean to be snarky but is this a new trend or something? Defoliation is news to me. I never remove fan leaves until I'm well into flower and they are turning yellow. I kinda think nature put them there for a reason. Seems to me bud sites grow regardless of how much direct light they get. Maybe I'm wrong!

i doubt this plant can get any more stunted ill post some pics its 5-6 months old just root bound and on a minimal feed
to just maintain life
it has been through hell but i think it will be ok in the end
So a couple weeks recovery ?

ive only grown auto's for a while
its been about 5 years since i had a real multi photo grow
the first pic was the branch i defoliated a couple days ago it responded well so i did the rest of the plant
this plant has occupied a 1'x1' spot in my box for a while i just kept wrapping it back into its self so alot of interior leaves were messed up from lack of light
its getting scrog'd and can veg longer if need be i have about 8 auto's going so it could have another month or 2 if needed if it fills in in the next week im just going to flip it

I only grew autos once, 6 of em, and i made the mistake of defoiling them, they took real bad to it because the autos need everything they produce, well in my experience, i did pineapple express auto, sweet tooth auto, and devil something, smoke wasn't up to par thats why i ask, i haven;t tried an auto since

the new auto's are on par with most of the commercial high grade if your spot on with your grow
if not there still a mid-high

i clipped 2 branches earlier from a 70-80 day afghan kush ryder

barneys sweet tooth if you grow it out right start to finish no hick ups then it will be around 3.5' tall F'n killer smoke
buds look laminated when you peel them apart
i let mine run a lot longer then breeder times though

You know that sweet tooth shot up like a bean stalk once the roots hit the rez, i harvested that one early unfortunately and it was the one i had the most hope for, i had a horrible issue with heat/power outages last summer and it def affected the crop, shot all the way up 3 feet before the early chop, but all the smoke was not favorable. The pineapple express finished nicely, but tiny, like 7-10g dry, it was stunted the worst by my defoiling the girl. I haven't had any auto beans, since... maybe ill try some in between

you should try kc-45 from kc brains they are really cheap for the reg's
when you look it up disregard the reports that its not a auto
it is very container dependent on veg and if planted in the ground or a really large pot some of them will yield pounds
but have photo run times i have some going now but still seedlings so i have no first hand experience
but from what i absorbed is they are auto in a container

I have read about this strain actually when i came across it on Herbies

I have seen those reports of it not being an auto, but from what i see these people planted them in huge pots or the ground as you just have mentioned and gained some respectable harvests.

I did not know they were reg seeds, not fem's, i thought all autos were fem for some reason, and i don't even know why i assumed that (gotta question myself lol)

Others report that once the roots hit the bottom of the pot it will start to flower
