Dehumidifier drain water in DWC

So i have a Quest 155 it drain about a 10 gal per day , PH is 6.5 ppm 0 , temps stays 67-68 , water looks clean and i was thinking on using it but i added UV light with pump in case if there is anything in water and i added 1 stage filter that removes lead, copper ,dust etc. After uv running for 24hr my ph is 5.5 , so what u guys think about using drain water ? Quest uses MERV-13 filter and when i talked to their support they told me metal contaminates might be in a water after like 5-7 years of using it.

It is water that is pulled straight from the air. There should be no metals or impurities in it.

The metals they talk about prob come after the unit gets old and the heat exchanger starts to break down and oxidize.

Not sure why the ph is so low tho. It should be neutral.

But in theory the water should be similar to r/o,

So yeah no reason no to use it.

that's what i was thinking , so ph sohuld be 7 right ? my main reason to use it
A. its a commercial dehumidifier not a 49.99 one from target
B. my res is 100 gall so i can save a lot of water but more importantly my water ppm is 250 so i will start off with low ppm

I would be extremely wary of using dehumidifier water-you have NO idea what kind of heavy metals were used in the manufacture of these devices-lead, cadmium, etc.

i use 3 stage filter and TAP ppm is 250 and again i dont know whats in it but plants do good

both my anden dehumid and split ac drain back into my rez. as far as plants health... it has no effect. theyre as healthy as possible. been doing it for years.

i use 150ppm tap so if i were to not drain it then i would use tap and get all the contaminants from my tap... the chloramines and chlorines and flourides etc.

personally, i rather keep draining dehumi and ac back into rez cause i never top up with water. they do it for me.

stuff like heavy metal contamination and legionnaires disease etc. i have no idea on how itll affect our health. i just know the plants are healthy and have no problems

If you scared of the water that comes from a de humidifier you probably don't want to look into what is in your tap water.

thats my idea too , but i went an extra step and added uv light and 0.5 micron filter to remove dust led ,copped etc , so to be honst the water doesnt look crystal clear but its not dirty either, maybe my container had some dust or nute residue left but ill see if filter fill make it clear

dehu/ac water is the cleanest you can find

i use every drip of it in my recirc setup i never add water from the tap
it allow you to run with bennies in hydroponic, because its pure water, non chlorinated
i even recover the water of the outdoor units of my AC ..

it do not contain considerable levels of metals ... and nowadays all exchangers inside dehumidifiers (condenser/evaporator) are made of aluminium which is toxic for plant at pretty high dose (15ppm) unlike the copper which is toxic at very low ppm (0.2ppm)

get some good 1part soft water nutrient and its the easier setup i know ..

personally in top feed recirc i pump the solution in a first reservoir to my room .. and recover the runoff inside a 2nd reservoir. both out the room.
I just adjust once a day the reservoir 2nd ph/ec, and transfer it to the 1st reservoir with a small pump

I feel like if your putting it through a filter and hitting it with uv it’s good,only way to know for sure is to have the runoff tested though.
Very good thinking I think! like someone else said it only releases metals and stuff as the dehumidifier gets old and rusts.

only suggestion I can think of is aerating the water it could possibly be low in dissolved oxygen or be stagnant

Good point, ill add air pump and i have a wave maker running 24/7 so water is moving also i will still need to add like 25 gall of fresh filtered water that should add some oxygene

I’ll also suggest yearly dehumidifier maintenance,take all the plastic covers off and clean out the rad,hopefully you have a air compressor to blow everything out it makes it easy.
It’s gross the amount of dust and hair that comes out with the yearly clean

Also planning replacing filter every grow. Cant be that expensive

The mine has a pull out plastic filter I clean weekly or better.
It’s crazy what makes it past t though

Total nonsense. Water from a dehuey can be a bacterial breeding ground. You dont have a clue.

so quest just replied to me and confirmed their coils are made of copper and epoxy coated
