I have an 8x8 room with a 3x6 bed and a 2x4 veg tent. My old dehumidifier has took a dive and am looking for sizing suggestions. I am looking at a quest just don’t want to get the wrong one. Thanks in advance

Just get a home sized 50-70pint. It will do the job. Quest DeHues are huge ive installed a few. They work well but it's a two man job lifting them. I think they will take more Realestate than it's worth for the size of the room. I use a 70 pint and it keeps the humidty in check no problem in 10x17 room. It only really runs on dark cycle when the temp drops and humidity spikes. Also the AC stops taking out as much humidity on dark cycle since the lights aren't cycling the AC.

Quest dehus are great for a real commercial operation, if youre working with 1000 ft2 of canopy space that's what you'll need.
For an 8x8 space any of the home dehus at the hardware store will work. Id spring for the 50+ pint size, theyre around ~$300. Id get one of the models for wet environments with the built in drainage pump, that way you can just run a hose to a drain, set it and forget it. They're usually advertised for a couple thousand square feet but you want overkill to really control the moisture, plus then the machine works less hard.
Also, in terms of placement, you can put it in the room, but best bet is to have a lung room youre pulling air from. Treat the incoming air, vent the excess heat and mosture.

i have a 9x9 room thats semi sealed with co2 i exchange all the air in the room once per day on a timer when lights are off when im going full tilt in flower i have two residential dehus one is a 70 pint and the other is a 30 pint and there going full tilt to maintain the proper relative humidity. sometimes its not always the size of the room its also the amount of plant mater that is in the room thats perspiring on lights out. honestly best advice i've received over the years for sizing a dehumidifier is get a big one it'll just cycle off once the rh is reached and dont get a cheap one you dont want it taking a shit on you during a grow i had my 30 pint die on my last night i had to swap it out was a pain in the ass

Thank you for all the advice. I ended up getting the Quest 70 pint unit. It is 12”x12”x21 1/2” so not too huge. Hopefully it’s big enough. I wanted the dual 105 but I couldn’t bring myself to spend the coin.

i run a 30pt rated up to 1500 sq ft in a 14x20 room. it runs continuously and keeds my rh between 45-55% (which is where i want it) with no issues. i just dump the bucket it drains into once a day (could go two days+ without dumping)

Wow, I didn't expect to spend more on a dehumidifier than 2 led bar fixtures!
Is it recommended to also get the duct kit, then duct the inlet and outlet to the tent?

I have about $12k in my room. I look at it like this.... at ANY given time, I have about $6-8k worth of medicine in that room. I protect that investment with a mini-split AC and a Quest dehumidifier. The meds are not any good if they have mold/rot, pests, etc... your return on investment is almost immediate!
As for the tent . . . I quit using them YEARS ago. You should do the same. That 8x8 room is SMALL. My room = 20x20x10'

I am loving my new dehumidifier. The 70 pint is a good size for the way I use my space. As for the price of the quest. An investment in peace of mind. I lost giant colas last run because my old hardware store unit took a dive late flower. Not a $6-$8k loss by any measure, but still a sad situation.

the quest 105 is the most energy efficient dehumidifier on the market if your going to spend the cash get the 105 vs the 70 here are some specs.

the quest 105 uses 150 less watts and its almost twice as efficient at removing water from the air for a few extra bucks this seems like a no brainer for me.

That's why I recommended just a home dehu as the quest 70 is barely more efficient if at all. And it's like 5X the price. I bought two home dehu for $150ea brand new. I've been using only one for 2 years now. And my humidity stays spot on it. The dehumidifier has wifi and I can view whether it's running or not and what it thinks the rh is in the room. Would be a long time before a quest 70 caught up on ROÍ.

I paid $1k for the Q70 shipped. The Q105 is almost $2,500. Those extra 150w cost me about an extra $20 a month. It will take 75+ months before I save $$ with the 105 vs the 70. I made the correct choice.
I've also been burned by 'home' versions of the following:
dehumidifiers, humidifiers, fans, lights, and portable AC's.
I learned the hard way that you get what you pay for. I also ALWAYS buy the extended warranty on chillers, lights, etc... If it's $$$, I buy the warranty! AND I ALWAYS FILE AT LEAST 1 CLAIM!!! ALWAYS!

May I ask which dehumidifier you've been using? Sounds as though you've been satisfied with it. I'm in the market for an approx 1500sqft unit that can keep my lung room at proper humidity. The room is about 12x12 with a 4x4 tent. Currently the ac unit I have which, can run on a dehu mode, is only keeping the lung room around 60% and therefore my tent isn't much lower.

I have a Homelabs 22 pint taking care of a 4x4 tent (in small room) quite nicely, been running for 2 years now with no issues, I'd buy another.

That is one of the units I was considering, I decided to go with it. If I can't get the humidity in check with this dehuy and my AC I won't know what to do. Humidity has been frustrating me!

I run quests of all sizes my favorite is the 335 the 506 works great but is bulky the 225s don't move much air but work ok good too. I have easily fixed and replaced every part more than once in all of my units aside from the 335 as it is new but they are all great and easy to repair and come with amazing customer support that actually sends the parts out and gives trouble shooting tips. Wouldn't be in business without them... Team quest all the way!
