Dehumidifier is heating up the tent

Hi guys, need advice

I have 3 super silver haze plants in scrog, almost 4 weeks since flip.
Its winter over here and the humidity is 70% in the tent while lights are on!

So I got this dehumidifier but its not working good enough in the room, so I inserted it into the tent, temperature jumped from 25c to 30c in 2 hours...
Didn't know that its blowing warm air...

Its winter here and its our bed room.. so I can't freeze the room as in the summer.

I am afraid of mold :sad:

I have 2 vents and a blower and 2 fans already, ventilation is good.

Any idea how to solve it?
Maybe run it only while lights are off?
Any other way?

Anything electrical you add will add heat.

You could remove any leaves below the net, if there are any, or take 30% of the fan leaves off, that will reduce transpiration a bit.

Tell us about your extraction.
Where does the hot air go?
What extractor are you using?
 
Went down to 45 around the unit, between the leaves still was 60+- but Its just started and the got scared from the heat and took it out immediately

I will try today to get accurate temp and update

But the tent was very hot when I opened it.

I am using S&P TD-SILENT line blower, 250 with carbon filter
The tent is 3X2

2 leds light 125w each and one UPLUX MiniLux E27 light bulb like this, 30w.

I can remove it if needed, but the thing is that lower part of the tent was very hot, it was like I inserted a heater

Well 2x3 is 6square foot.
You need 180w -240w to flower a photoperiod.
So you can afford to dim those 125w leds a bit.

I can't see details on the dehu, but I'm willing to bet it's a lot of wattage, obviously too much for your extraction to cope with, assuming your extraction is set up right and venting out the house.
 
i have 1100w dehum unit in the room, a 9000btu air conditioner and a radiator running so i let them battle it out haha

i recirculate the air constantly. keeping the ac set at 23° this gives me 24° under the canopy. its better to use the dehum outside the tent so ac can cool the air before it enters the tent.
 
Agree with above. You should dehumidify the room air so your exhaust fan pulls dry air into the tent not pushing your dried air out of the tent and sucking moist air from the room.

Get a temp/rh controller for your exhaust fan and run that at half speed so it turns off when not needed like after the lights go out unless the rh goes higher than your setting which is usual as the temp drops so the humidity is relatively higher.

What is your humidity in your house now? You say it's winter as it is here but my house RH right now is 25% here in the mancave and I'm giving off moisture so it's probably lower elsewhere and lower outside at -12C.

Guess you won't be growing in the summer unless you use AC. Portable AC unit with the two hose system would be dehuey and AC unit and pump the motor/room heat outside but not cheap. Single hose ones are f'n useless.

Lollipop - done
Cleaning some fan leafs - done

I moved the dehumidifier to blow the (hot) air into the right vent (from outside the tent)

humidity went down to 60%
temperature (in shade) is 27-28

Next month will be hotter here so I will be able to move the dehumidifier inside in the last 4 weeks of the flowering phase + turn on the air condition.

Sorry just saw your response.

My exhaust fan is pulling the air from the tent outside. The filter is inside the tent (about the lights, can't see it in the photos)
There are 2 vents that are pulling the air in.

The humidity in the house is 90-80%.... that is the problem growing here at winter times.

Usually I grow in summer only, the room ac is running 24/7.
Now its too cold to use it, but I guess from march I can use it more and more.

And this time I am cutting early!
11 weeks is enough, depend on bud size.

I had my big buds rot lesson...
"Wait for rippen wait for rippen", 13 weeks and huge buds, all I got is bud rot.

I broke it so hard to get many smaller buds, but this super silver haze is crazy and stretched again even after hard super crop, and still do, 4 weeks after flipping.

Writing it down make me think - I see no other option that to put the unit inside after 8 weeks if I want go get 40% humidity.

i’m in the same 80% inside the house situation living by the sea sucks thats why i invested in a 1100w dehum and since it heats up the air as well (27-28° at the exhaust in 23° room) i run the ac to set a comfortable temp inside the room for cannabis. they balance each other out while my plants enjoy the 30-34% rh.

Well its a bed room...a 1100w in the bed room will be too much.
My unit itself can't reduce the room rh lower than 55% even if working all day.. that is the minimum and mostly around 60%.

Its 240w, 10L/day. Max I can put in bedroom and sleep with.. the tent itself is quite noisy but we got use to.

I guess with the AC it will be Ok, winter is nearly over here so I can turn it on soon for full days.

BTW - my wife wants AC on 16c all the time in the bedroom lol - its me that freezing at nights and can't stand it.
 
yeah at 16° your dehum will go into defrost mode causing huge humidity spikes anyway. the reason i set it to 22-23 is it prevents the unit from going into defrost mode. maybe consider moving your grow op to some other room and invest in a bigger capacity dehum and just enjoy fully ripened solid nugs without rot.

Not an option... but I got another idea, I will bring one more unit tomorrow lol
Its quite and I can use it for drying later so very simple solution I wonder why I didn't thought about it before... So simple, 1 unit not enough? lets put 2, one in front of each vent.
 
last update - I added another unit, now both inside the room and not in tent, rh is 55% now and I will lower it to 40% on the last weeks.

Jumping to 60L was an option but too loud and less flexible that 2 units of 10L for my needs.

Set one to a higher RH than the other so if there is only a small demand for dehumidification, the unit can run a little longer and not short cycle as fast
