Dehumidifier or air conditioner

Just got a 45 pint dehumidifier and put it in my room. It rose the room temp 6 degrees while lowering the humidity 20%. This is not good because the temp is now 87ºF in the room (too hot!) Thinking of returning it and getting an A/C unit. Will the A/C give me enough drop in the humidity? Or will i need the dehumidifier for humidity and A/C for the new heat? Will the A/C make it too cold to achieve a 20% drop in humidity?

Ok, sometimes I think I am not perfect and can't help the confused but I have great news for yea! Go get the AC unit Point blank. Their is no more dicussion needed. It will fix what your problem is. Dont worry about your AC dropping your RH to low since your plants do this thing called transpiration. Worry about RH if your high and if your pulling air from outside in winter time. Remember that temperature and RH go hand in hand. Lower temp, lower moister to hold, less humidity.
Best of luck. OH Go get the best stand up AC unit you can buy. Better the unit the less harder it has to work; therefor, it stays off alot more.

About the AC dropping the RH to low to about 20%, thats not going to happen. It would if the lights were off and you were trying to make your laddies chilled. So you set your AC unit to 20-24 C and your fine

be careful what you do!
Get the correct size A/C for your room ( NOT AN OVERSIZED ONE ) It will tell you how many sq. ft. it can handle on the box. If you get to big a unit it will never run enough to reduce the humidity, you actually want it to run alot.
I bought to big a unit before and had to run a heater set at 77 and my A/C set at 75 to keep things at 45% and 75 degrees
