I use a dehydrator. It takes practice to get the hang of it, but once you do you will never go back. My dehydrator can be used for a variety of foods including beef jerky and fruits. It does not have a fan, a fan is unnecesarry. The way it speeds up drying is by using just a little heat, but not enough to damage the bud. When you pull your harvest let it hang for about six hours in a cool dark space. Then cut it up and throw it in the dehydrator for about eight hours. Just keep a close eye on it. You will notice the stem slowly turn from green to tan, this is how you know most of the clorophyl has evaporated. When it starts to tan and feel crispy pull it out and put it a sealed container. Leave it overnight in a sealed container. After 12 to 20 hours open the sealed container to burp it. While you are burping it feel the buds. They should not still feel crispy, but if they are just reseal the container and leave it unopened for a few days then check it again. If after that it still feels crispy you over-dried it. If during your initial burp and check it feels too wet and soft, you didn't dry it enough. throw it back on the dehydrator for a few hours and repeat the last step. I would say you could get a bud fully cured and smokeable in about two days if you know what your doing. What will end up happening after you pull it off of the dehydrator is it will feel really fluffy. you can smoke it like this, but its not complete yet because all of the moisture is hiding in the stem. I keep mine in a vacuum sealed container. I know its ready when I feel the buds and they have set-up and feel solid, no more fluffy. When they feel solid and very sticky you know that you have a consistant amount of moisture throughout the bud. I aim for about five percent moisture throughout the bud.
