Deodorizing CFLs

I happened to come across Sanibulb and Fresh2, two types of CFLs that deodorize air. I'm not an expert on lighting or odor control but someone has used Fresh2s on their grow here and said they do in fact work to kill the smell (no info on if it effected taste or final scent tho). Sanibulbs while pricier are more appealing, they're perfect for veg and flower because they come in 2700k and 6400k 25w bulbs... the lumens weren't listed but the major perk:

  • Kills bacteria, viruses, fungi, mold spores, mildew & dust mites
  • Reduces allergens & irritants like pollen & dander
These could be an enhancement to anyone's grow if they don't effect the final product. If anyone has any experience with these Sanibulb or Fresh2 CFLs, please spread the knowledge!

These came up ages ago on rollitup, looked decent but i think they arent that effective with smell if ur growing anything more than like half and ounce, also for the price ect...Also ( bad memory ) dont take my word for it, something about taking the smell of ur bud, which no one really likes ( if they are near ) because it works like an ionizer or some shit i dnno.

Yo! They worked up til abouT week 2 of flower. I also had Widow,AK47 and48. So the smell in there was VERY intense. I would get them if u were already gonna suplement with cfls. But i wouldnt count on them killing all odors. I use a Ona bucket now along with them. 3/5 stars.

They work due to a titanium coating on the glass. When excited by light the titanium starts oxidizing everything it comes into contact with there by eliminating smells.

This coating would block some light from the bulb itself but should not do anything as to the smell of the bud. It would have to be in direct contact and damage your plants production of essential oils.

Probably not the most effective means of controlling scent but it probably helps for sure.

The fact that they fight fungi, mold, and mildew make me want to get a few and run them my entire grow... I'll be using a grow cabinet. The odor control is great too but sounds like I'll still need a filter. Either way thanks for the help guys, I really appreciate it. I'll let you know if I end up using em down the line.

They fight living organisms in the same way that they fight smell.

It is as effective of a means of biomass reduction as it is smell. It would make a dent but probably not really do anything. You are constantly breathing a huge amount of spores and living organisms.

Just clean your grow and house well and often and you will have better results then plugging those things in and forgetting about it. If you really want to try to clean the air a hepa style filter would be the only way of producing semi sterile air. Other then that, don't worry about it, your plants evolved in nature at one point and are used to dealing with pests.

Keeping your humidity in the proper ranges is going to be the most effective method to keeping your babies mold/mildew/pathogen free.
